That was you? Well thank you sir, That saw is sweet, and Ill be sending appropriate feedback tonight. Gonna order the b/c tomm. Then "fix" the muffler:rock:

Rember there is a .325 rim on that 330 not the 3/8 that it came from factory with. I "FIXED" the muffler on my other 330 the other day and it made a HUGE difference:hmm3grin2orange:

I don't have the link to the puller.
My Dolmar dealer just got one for ModifiedMark and I would be thrilled to give you his contact info in a P.M. if you would like.
I'm certain there is another way to get that rascal off of there and I would try a pipe coupler if I could find one that would match the threads.
I don't know how much heat I would put there without having one here in front of me to look at.

Mike

Ok Mike, thanks for the help.I've sent you a pm.

Its a shame they dont make this saw any more, along with a complete pro lineup, but I dont think the big shots at Elux would like that.

I don't understand it myself...I mean I know it would eat a few husky sales up but they own poulan and it would also be gaining more sales from stihl and the others.

I don't think it would be profitable to make saws today like they did in the past. They'd have to charge more for them than what they do now and they'd have to add the "upgrades" like the new choke/kill switches combined like the others have and you'd still have people that buy saws for the name brand and they'd buy a Stihl homeowner saw over a Poulan professional one. IMO

I don't think that the kill/choke switch would change the price that much...and as for sales I could name a few on here alone that would buy the poulan over the other brands lol. Not trying to start a war with ya at all but these saws made today don't cost near as much to make as what they are selling them for.

Anyhow a strato 5400/8500 would be on the top of my want list!!!

Some of the old saws didn't have a chain brake either, that would have to be changed. I'm one of the guys that would buy the Poulan over some of the brands made today, just doubting if they would make any money making them like they used to. If I was to buy a new/old saw today I would probably pick a Super 25DA but I already have one. As for a bigger saw I'm not sure.

I remember shopping for saws back in the seventies and if I recall right a Homelite 150 cost about $335 new. The Super XL was a little higher than that. I suppose it might be worth it to have a saw that would last 40 years!

I bought a new SXL in about 94-95. I paid 380.00 + tax for it from my local Ace Hardware that was a Homelite and Echo dealer. Now their a Stihl dealer and make fun of the plastic poulans.
Anyhow the price of the SXL did'nt change much in 20 or so years is what I'm trying to say. They're making a killing on these saws today.

I'm not saying make them out of all magnesium like the like the SXL and 306 but to make some good saws like the 330 and some bigger ones but add some plastic for covers like the pro saws today.

It's fun to talk about but it's never going to happen I know...

I'm afraid it won't, they like to make them out of as much plastic as they can. I have a plastic Poulan or two and I kinda like them for trimming small limbs and branches and because they're lighter than the metal ones. On the heavy jobs I still pull out the metal saws..
