Hello all,
I haven't posted on here in a long time because I have never been intelligent enough to put pictures on to back up what I talk about.

I just purchased a 3450 off e-bay as parts, but the only thing I have found wrong is the circlip is missing under the flywheel side that holds the crank bearing in place. Looks like the saw ran until the bearing shifted and pushed the seal out. I have taken the clutch and oil pump off but not sure how to get the oil pump gear off.
Does it take a special puller ( where can I purchase one ) or ??

Should I put this in the chain saw forum?

Richard, There was some talk of just the tool you are wanting a couple pages back I believe. I think Mike said any Poulan dealer could order it for you.;)

As far as the picture posting thing goes. Bob has had trouble with that too...:D Maybe the two of you should take a course in posting pictures on here. I think you guys are capable of posting pictures, you just want to keep your saws a secret from us.

Gregg,

Richard, you getting over this way anytime soon? I have that worm gear puller that you need and your welcome to use it if you would like to. At least I think I have the one you need, I think the 3450 should use the same as the 3500/PP365 etc.

Good to see you here again.

I would have posted something but I have not found one yet for my 3750. I do not know if it is the same as for a 3450. I called the poulan dealer and it is no longer available and not in stock, so the search continues. I pulled one of the small ones off once on a poulan 295 with a two jaw gear puller and it bent the end of the worm gear so I will continue to look or figure something else out.

I dont know if this will attach or if its too large but here is a page from the Poulan special tools list that shows the worm gear part numbers. As you can see it is older then the 3450/3750 saws but I think the one from the PP365 etc saws would be the same.

3450 Tools

Thanks for the replys fellows,

Its good to be back on here and I really will try to get pictures up BECAUSE:

I also purchased a near perfect Poulan 4000 monday in Winamac, IN ( kind of over your way Mark ).

It is a one owner saw that runs just like it looks. I ran one tank of fuel through it and set it on the shelf with my pro 330 thats only had one tank of fuel through it.

I will use the 3450 when I get it going.

Gregg,

Gregg how I wish it was true.

And I couldn't figure out why it didn't run right! Go figure. Not sure what you mean by "homemade intake block". I'm surprised it would draw fuel with the impulse blocked.

Sorry about the confusion. The intake block gasket was homemade. Yeah I couldn't believe it ran at all with the impulse blocked. It's a Poulan so it has an advantage.

I wonder if the worm gear puller for the Husqvarna will work? I bought one for the 262xp that works on several others...

Mark,
I would enjoy going to your place to see your saws & shop sometime.

I am going to order the poulan tool set for that series of saws. They are still available through ordertree.

There is a shock mount tool listed. Is it needed to change the shock mounts?

Thanks again for all the replys.

Thanks for posting, that is a newer one and shows my suspicions right about the 3450 using the same puller.

When I get that worm gear off and can separate the case I will show some before and after pictures of the welding where some one punched a hole from the chain adjuster. Thanks for the help guys.

Your welcome any time. It's probably only a hour or so drive from you.

Finding them might be harder than replacing them. Also check to see if you have the usual thin rings or the less common thick rings, which sre on the 3800.

Ill try and post a pic of the rings.

I asked about compression release as a last ditch effort to explain 100 psi compression.
