Well... I just got home, started the fire (hopin' that's the terms of the loan agreement)... and now I'm workin' on catchin' up with ya.
Too wet, cold and windy for beer here, I went straight for the Canadian Club (b'sides, I'm playin catch up).
And yeah... I turned 2-years-old January 1960...

Thank you Sir ,That Steve is a good friend of mine also .
And thanks for the explanation , I see that cover every day at my shop here And never got what it meant ,Am sure their story may have differed from yours a bit as they most likely do not know Steve .
Brian, "Lost in the Fifties" is a song by Ronnnie Milsap. Popular at car shows to this day.

Take it easy on the Canadian club or you will find yourself wandering about aimlessly adding "eh" to the end of every other sentence.

Thinking about this firewood in the basement stuff ,seems like there would be a bunch of bugs and spiders brought in the house if stored it inside ,is this a problem where you are at ? Would be here .

did I mention I put ALL my wood back in the stacks couple weeks ago? btw, had my maters and peppers in the ground for couple weeks too. just sayin.
unlike other well known individual I would welcome you'ns if ya wanted to move here. plenty of room. come on down

I put about 5 cord in my basement last fall (October)... done it that way for years.
I've never had a "bug problem"... an occasional spider, but they don't leave the stacks and just add to the BTUs :D
Also, keep in mind, my firewood is stored in single rows out in full sun... that may, or may not (shrug) have something to do with it.
I won't pretend to know about other areas of the country...

Well since we are on the subject of moving around did you fellas know that if you buy your Canadian club by the case there is a free Canadian citizenship form in the bottom of the box? Just fill in the blanks, mail it to Ottawa and you are good to go.

Did you know that Canadian Club is not a true "Canadian" whiskey??
It was first distilled in Detroit... it was only after the state of Michigan "went dry" and the national prohibition movement had gathered a full head of steam that it was moved across the river to Windsor. During prohibition Al Capone was the largest purchaser of the stuff... it could be argued he made the company successful, it may not have even survived without him.

Ain't never found a Canadian Citizenship form in the bottom of a case of CC... but, I ain't never looked neither :D

The damp climate here ,the bugs hide under the bark ,and firewood rots if left uncovered in stacks outside ,needs to be in a shed or be covered to last any amount of time ,we do not have basements out here either , too much rain ,so they would leak or me moldy in no time ,i had a pretty good sized pile of firewood decked 4 years ago ,i am just now getting to cleaning it up 80% i had to put in a bon fire from being rotten or punky already ,some of the bigger fir and cedar was ok ,all the alder was junk .
most of this went into a bon fire

Trx250r180, basements are very uncommon around here too, and I have heard all of the reasons/excuses which includes a high water table and fear of flooding from rains. When I decided to build my own home one of the parameters for me, living in tornado country, was a full basement. Mine was poured 3 summers ago and I am nearing completion on my home (yes it takes time to DIY a whole house). The only time I have seen a wet basement was before I had a roof on the place. I do have a foundation drain tile, as any poured basement should, to get rid of ground water that might otherwise seep in but you will see that anywhere. I have come to the conclusion that it is contractors cutting corners is the reason so few homes have basements.

Brian, you've seen pics of the wood I keep in my basement. Bugs aren't really a problem. Spiders are from time to time, but more numerous in summer when there's no wood down there.

I get a lot of wood thats infested with ants when cut/split, but they move out when it dries.
You are pretty good with the axe to get all your firewood so square ;)
