i see the legal (or illegals) bringing the hourly wage down across the board. some companies are willing to hire these guys just because they will work for 10-12 an hour. when they do this, it brings the wage for the rest of us down, just to be able to work.
many people, like myself, could barely pay their bills working for that wage, and are forced to take the pay cut just to make our collectors happy, nevermind be able to feed and clothe ourselves.
at one point, i had a flourishing company, and was making a pretty good living. when the economy had it's downfall, i was forced to work for less and less untill i couldn't pay my rent anymore because i couldn't compete with underbidders. now i live in an in-law with my parents, paying almost nothing for rent, and still struggling to make ends meet.
i got an interview for a job last week, and the company asked me what i was looking to make. i told them and their response was, "i can hire 2 people for what you want an hour." they hired a legal/illegal that barely speaks english with no experience to fill the position that they wanted an experienced guy for. that makes no sense to me other than they are saving a buck
