A fella on another forum, who lives in GA, claims that his Stihl dealer can not get the MS200 in that region. Before I answer "BS-find another dealer" is it possible that this is true?:angry2:

Probably a BSing dealer that wanted to sell a stocked 192... but maybe not.

Here in NC, my bro-in law bought a 200 rear handle in maybe 99 or 00 (I was running my Snap-on route at the time) I helped him level off fence posts with it... didn't realize at the time what I was using. After several post-holes where I had to ride ballast on the 3pt auger boom, I didn't care a lot what I was cutting off level with.

I'd call around...

I think I'm the guy from the "other" forum. TreeCo where did you see the MS200? I'm looking for the MS200 not the MS200T. Thanks.

Are you sure your bil bought a 200 non T back in 99/00? I do not believe they were out yet.

That is true. Not all distributors carry the same product. I have been wanting the 192 rear handle and it is not available in Texas until September when they have been available elsewhere already.
Tell the fella from the other forum that it is one hell of a saw. You already know that though, don't ya.

Why would you want to buy a 200 rear handled saw?

I figure if ya going rear handle another model perhaps?

Two of my local dealers would not even order one for me so I went to another dealer ,about 200 miles away, and got my ms200 rear handle. Bet he would sell you a new one and ship it for free.

I wanted a light, powerful, well built limbing saw (for ground work) to balance out my package . This saw rips and at 10# w/14" B&C it's so well balanced you barely notice it. Pricey-yes, but I'll have it the rest of my life and for my needs - its perfect. If you can find one - run it; it'll follow you home.

None of this would even be a problem if you know who allowed internet sales! ;)

Pretty sure it was then... they had just built a house + barn, and (we) were fencing in the fields to keep their horsies. It for sure was a MS200, cause he bragged on it all the time. It MAY NOT have been as early as 99, but it was not much later than 00 or 01.

They are not being stocked in the South Region. The Mid Atlantic region has them. the southernmost city is Chattanooga Tn that would have one or a city in SC or NC. I went thru the same thing. I bought one in Chattanooga Tn. They are not included in the distribution the the us in Ga. Who knows why? I could never get the real reason! Great little saw, worth every bit of the trouble to get onel.

I agree. There is a reason that saw is hard to find. I'd go with a pro saw like the 260.

I have a 200 and just love it... great ground saw... fantastic bucket saw.. and light enough to hold (now and then) single handed with great reach.
But yes, dealers make their own choices and unless they stock and demo one, the users will never figure out why it's a great saw.

It's only been out a couple of years. Are you sure they didn't have an older 020 AVP (rear handle)?

I never thought of that, but he said it was purchased somewhere in between 99-01 and at that time 020T was the only model available. Maybe it was an 021 ; ).

So did I, but I opted for the Husky 339xp "new edition" instead, with a bit more ccs and power for the same weight - I simply like the way it handles better......
