Seriously... there is nothing wrong with the flippy caps... just the flippy cap users.

Gary
Auhhhhhhhh OOOOOOOOOOOO my wife was insulted :buttkick::laugh:
I don't have a problem with them but I have a problem with their design dirt funnel and when someone fills it and sends it up and oil poors down your leg the rest of the day makes you cuss stihl design:bringit:

So your wife can operate a flippy cap but you can't?:ices_rofl: You husky guys are a hoot! It doesn't take but half a second to see how they work, try it next time and it will save ya some cussin'.

Well I can tell you that there is one woman who could not get the oil tank cap to seat on the 211.

One day after I got through cussing that tiny azzed cap, I just told my wife, here see if you can get this dam.. cap to lock.

It would not seat and lock for her either.

Maybe I had a bad cap, but that saw left here, and the saws with screw in caps stayed.

Hence no more cussing out the 211.

BTW the caps on the 362 work fine

The 211's oil cap is the only one I have to really pay attention to before twisting it in. I twisted it wrong one time and learned how to do it after that. No need to sell the saw for that reason though, not to buy a husky anyway.:D

Oh and Centaur I think it was you that was bashing the MS 200t. I don't think I could belittle that saw if I had to shove bologne in the caps to make it run. I love that little bugger.

I was actually bashing the ms200t oil cap, not the saw. I try not to bash the ms200T too hard as I do feel it is the only stihl saw worth owning. I also log more hours with that model saw than any others I own. I don’t call them the money makers for nothing. Are they perfect?? Nope, cost way too much for what you get, they are a bear to work on and the carbs are kinda crappy. Little German made stihls are good stuff but be careful , you can toast them. Last one I got from the dealer came running hotter than a firecracker. Tweaked her back down and so far its been doing pretty good, except for the lousy oil cap. And no, on a $629 saw, you should not need to wedge bologne, salami or prosciutto under the cap to get it to run. If you do, you should feel greatly cheated.

No need to buy a stihl when their is a better solution that is superior design and has the right caps too:bringit: Btw you insulted my wife again as she was the one that did not get the cap seated and led to the stihl famous oily leg syndrome:buttkick:

OLS? Oily leg syndrome? I know of a 372 that does the same thing.:laugh:I had the GF remove and install the cap, no problem. She has never used a saw before.:D If you guys can't use a flippy cap, I don't see how you get through the day with normal tasks.

You've got to admit that Stihl made a huge mistake in assuming that most chainsaw owners have an IQ higher than 10.5 Stihl needs to accept the fact that they haven't done their homework/research properly, and need to address these issues immediately.

They've got to go back to the drawing board and come up with a new lid design to accommodate all these people struggling to cope. Stihl needs to ditch their arrogant assumptions that the chainsaw-buying public don't need a helping hand to figure out simple tasks for themselves.

A new sticker program should help out in the meantime, giving Stihl ample time to draft a new lid design. I propose that flip cap Stihls should now come with a bright yellow sticker with the figures '10.5 and over' em-blazed in bold scarlet next to the lids for all to see. A memorandum sent out to all Stihl dealers will ensure that only the people meeting the 10.5 criteria can buy a flip cap saw.

All flip cap problems would soon be solved. :pumpkin2::pumpkin2:

Assuming your hypothesis has merit and chainsaw users are as you say, mentally challenged. What would stihl engineers be? analretentive I mean why would something as pure and simple as a screw in cap need improvements? Is it because their customers are hmmmmmmmm, there may be some merit:monkey: However: I know many that buy stihl's exclusive that agree the caps are un-necessary junk, which clutter their dust collection systems.

I didn't buy a Husky, I just let the 170 move up and take the 211"s place. I had both anyway.

I joke a lot about the caps, but Stihl builds a good saw.

Sooner or later I will have a 362. I like the saw, and the caps are no problem. I checked that out.

I have owned a couple of 361's and no problem there on the caps.

Just that dam.. 211 oil cap. :deadhorse:

Yeah and I bet it was bought knowing it was a defective oiling system too:monkey:

Hey RB, you only dare to say this because Andy (Lakeside) is no longer posting here....he would have pulled you through that hole in your avatar and give you a little whoppin'....:)
