I have been doing research on 2 cycle oils and I have decided to run Amsoil Saber. I wanted to know what you would recommend to run it at because I think 100:1 is too thin. I have some newer chainsaws that recommend 50:1 but also some older saws such as Mcculloch, Homelite and Remington. Those range from 16:1 to 40:1. I would prefer to run the same mixture ratio for all of them. I also have some blower and weed trimmers that are also 50:1 as well.

40:1 in everything, even when using alkylate and I tune carburettors using 40:1. More important is consistency of the mix ratio, using fresh fuel and avoiding ethanol.

I use 40:1 in my older small engine 2 stroke equipment. 100:1 just seems wrong. 50:1 is borderline. Though I've had my Stihl MS290 for 22 years now and it's been run on 50:1 the entire time and it's still running great.

Hey mate, do you find in the hedge trimmers or line trimmers you get spooge with 40:1 saber too or not?
Zero spooge running 32:1 semi-synthetic top quality JASO oil. 23cc Shindaiwa trimmer to 82cc Homelite chainsaw. Same OPE routine past 38 years. Switched premix a few times when discontinued but always semi-synthetic. I prefer semi-synthetic for OPE & 250/500 trail bikes, no oil related problem ever.

Sure, I can run semi synthetic at 32:1 no problem. This thread is about saber.

I bought several quarts of Dominator and have been running it at 45:1 for a few years. I'm careful with the measurements, rinse out the oil bottles so figure I'm doing an honest 45:1. Seems to be working well. Just a wood burning home owner (3-4 cords a year) + about 15 gallons worth of leaf blowing every fall.
The Stihl 4-mix weed whacker gets 50:1 stihl oil as it seems to do better on that.
