Today, I had an old neighbor friend stop by my home for a visit. During our long conversation of old times, he asked me if I still had the Craftsman Chainsaw. I responded that I did and he started laughing while reminding me of what happened many years ago.
Close to twenty eight years ago, I was clearing land and using a Craftsman 3.7 cubic inch chainsaw. I came to the house to sharpen the chain and he was across the road, working on his truck. I went over for a short break and a chat. He looked in the bed of my truck and saw the chainsaw. He asked me how I liked it and after I got through bragging, he bet me $20.00 that he could saw through a large log, that was beside his truck, with his little Remington 14" saw faster then I could.
I laughed and said, "I won't take your money but will show you how it cuts. I cranked the saw up as he cranked his, and we started cutting--or at least he did.
He cut through the log while I watched.
I knew immediately knew why my saw would not cut---blade was installed backwards!
After sharpening my chain, I decided it was time for a bar flip and I just removed the bar with chain still on it and tightened it up.
He wouldn't take my money so we had a good laugh and I was a little embarassed.
Good to have special friends!
