Does anybody know if the Olympyk 254-264-and 271 share parts commonality? I've got bits and pieces of all of these and before I take 3 and make 1, I want to know if they share parts.

My old Oly 264 has been a tremendous saw. Oly was a secret for many years but I traded my Sachs Dolmar for one and never regretted it. I modded the muffler and it pulls hard, sort of like a frustrated Hillary.

OLY cont.

My Oly 264 has remarkable power for its cubes. It does not pull hard in starting and I wanted to make sure nobody assumed that it did.

Oly's will someday be collector's items. Italy, by the way, makes the best farm equipment in the world as an industry. They revolutionized orchard tractors, sprayers, etc. Olympyk saws were always a sleeper and you're lucky to have run one. Just like a herd of rampaging hosses.

I love my Olympyk

I have an Olympyk 254f that I absolutely love. Very high compression engine, heavy, but balanced, and the anti-vibe system works pretty well. I have other saws that are superior by todays standards, but I just can't let this one go.

I don't know where to get parts around us though, but I have heard there is someone up in Springfield that deals with the parts. I am a mile from the rental place in Deep River that EFCO lists as a dealer, but I haven't tried to get parts from him.

Smokey little bugger too, but it has never failed me yet. And with that fuel oil ratio that is recommeded, I loan out the saw with a 2 gallon tank of premix to my friends, and have never had a problem.

I've got an old 284 Oly that needs some attention - mostly I need to replace all the A/V mounts. I am pretty sure (not positive thought) they are the same on the 272 and 284 - the 254, 264 might fit - can anyone confirm or deny this? If so, msjanket, if you would be interested in selling me some of yours (if they are any good) I am interested - PM me.

Another satisfied Olympyk owner here. Mine's a 970, and I've been wondering if a 980/981 piston and cylinder would work on my saw for future tinkering. I have a IPL for the EFCO(Olympyk) 970/980/971/981 and it looks like besides an obvious different piston and cylinder, the crank, carb, muffler, cylinder cover, air filter, air filter cover and intake adapter are different...not worth it unless I came across a cheap parts saw with salvagable engine parts.

I modded the muffler and it pulls hard,

Do you have pictures of that modded muffler that you could post?

Anyone have leads on parts? Does EMAK USA still stock parts for Oly saws?

Well, I found the EMAK website and got the number I need to call - everyone was out to lunch when I tried calling. I'll try again Monday.

I am pretty curious about the 985HD chainsaw. Looks like a winner, however the website says it is only available in select markets - I am sure USA is NOT on list. Maybe I can special order one or pick one up from our friends north of the border. Check it out HERE

As for my 284, I cleaned it up and got it started - it's a start. Needs a few things though. If you guys have or know of a 284 or 272 parts saw around, let me know!

Thanks, Josh
