My friend swears by his Olympyk and says I should buy one, yet I read little if anything about them here. I'm looking at the Stihl MS192T to replace an 015 that burned up and want something like an MS260 also. Should I consider Olympyk?

You'll find little or nothing on them here. That said, I think that they are the No. 1 seller in X.

Thanks, that was helpful. Guess I'll get the Stihl MS192T and research a bigger saw. I like the fact the store selling the Stihl was open till eight pm today while I found the store with Olympyk saws closed at one, and I slept in.

olympyk may be sold in other countrys. i have an 962 . but i was under the impression they were now lable john deere. oleo mak ,efco an the like. i may be misinformed. in any case the olympyk i have is a good saw.

john deere, olympyk, oleomac, are the same saws dont be put off i have a 952 and it goes just as good as a stihl saw
yes i have a few stihls as well

I have a Cub Cadet 5018 that has quickly become my favorite. It is of the same lineage as JD, Olympyk, etc.

The 62 (or really 61.5) cc version has a very good power/weight ratio, although probably not quite as good as published.
The only complaints I have seen on these saws is about the anti-vibe and fit&finish.

The fit and finish is also very good compared to my Husky 55 (not Rancher)or my friends Stihl 025. It's actully quite nice with magnesium side cover etc. .This is a non issue as far as I can see. Anti vibe works well too.

Olympyks are very well built but are now called Efco. This name change was actually due to objections from the people who do the Olympics. Everything from the 956 on up is comparable to other saws in their classes. The smaller saws are more geared to the homeowner, but still decent quality. The whole thing is a little like Dolmar in that they are not that well known compared to Husky and Stihl. They are usually found at Jonsered dealers, as both brands are distributed by Tilton Equipment. As was poointed out, they are being built in green for John Deere and yellow for Cub Cadet.

Bars and chains are the same as found on Husky's of similar sizes.

If your the type of guy who likes to run something different, go ahead and get one. You won't be disappointed.

I have a 951 and an old 355, and both of them are good saws. Not having owned a 346xp or 026 pro, I can't say the 951 is as good or better, but I wouldn't hesitate to run it against either one. I know it will walk all over a husky 350. The 355 is old, slow and heavy compared to the 54 cc class saws of today, but it is as dependable as they come. ...I think you will be happy with a Stihl or an Efco/John Deere. Get the saw that best suits your needs and pocketbook.

I have a JD CS62 it's a very good saw. Same as an Efco, Olympyk or Dynamac 962. Your friend is giving you good info.
These saws are made by Emak in Italy, and sold with a lot of different colors and labels - some owned by Emak, some not (like John Deere)......

Two different 56 cc versions were tested by DLG/KWF some time ago, and both had slightly more weight and less power output than adverticed.
