I was trying to make a coil module work that OSA sent me from a smaller poulan. Well after trying to grind the plates shorter the module still stuck into the flywheel of the poulan 2000 to far because of the offset bolt pattern. So I looked at the homelite super 240 that I cant keep running very long and started taking it apart. Couldnt believe how similar these to saws were in the engine area. Darn homelite is a pain to get the guts out of though. Not like that poulan 2000 that is easy to work on. But any how I eyed the module and pulled it out. Looked close enough for me, but was wrong earlier today on that other module. Bolted it in and added mix and she fired after 3-4 pulls after sitting since early spring. Just cant believe these parts interchanged enough to let this work. Then I let out the wooohoooo. Poulan has a Homelite heart now. The homelite super 240 is being parted out now. Has a .325 8 tooth sprocket etc.

Yikes a Poulan-Homelite hybrid.

Crazy isn't it, a mid 1980's homelite and and 1994 poulan sharing parts.

Actually, its not as crazy as you might think. Both saws must use Phelon ignition systems, which can be found in a multitude of brand name equipment. I think I've swapped some IDC and Homelite trimmer ignition coils somewhere along the way before.
