Bottom mounted muffler on a top handle saw(t435) with an elaborate baffle inside.

Do any experienced folks have any suggestions on how to open these things up properly?

I was trying to lift the edges with various tools but wasn't sure about the best approach.

I'm also not sure what the best way is to close it up properly afterwards.

Thanks

I use a screw driver and pliers to open them up. Try to be real gentle with the crimp lip. Remove whatever I'm after then re crimp the lips. Could braze them too, but more effort then I'd put into a muffler that style.

Thanks.

I was attempting to weasel a fine tipped flathead to get the lip started but as you mentioned I was erring on the side of caution.

I'll keep poking at it until I can get some lift.
