I have included a picture of some area I am clearing at my church. I have about 20-25 60' straight pines that need to be dropped for additional parking. Its not enough for a logging company to come and fell/collect right? So what can I do to sell the wood or even get rid of it so I don't have to cut it all and dump it?

I can handle the felling..the trees on the ground are the issue. Let me know what you all think. I live in Raleigh, NC.

I would say drop it all and then rent a piece of equip. use the equip. to get the logs in piles near a road or access point. Find a mill that will take the logs and send them on their way.

Andy,
Great suggestion. Had someone commit to taking the logs today for use at their portable mill. Cutting 16' is better than 4' taking all day and I'm glad it will go to good use.

Spring,
I'm about 40 minutes east of you and in a very similar situation. A client that I sell houses to knows that I do weekend tree work but clearing a lot is uncharted territory so I may end up telling him that he would be better off going with someone else. I considered contacting a Forester and paying for his services to grade and sell the little bit that we have (25 pines @ 80+ ft ea; largest DBH being 28"), even if it only pays for the fuel on the project... every little bit helps to offset the cost of clearing. If the Forester says I've lost my mind then I will chalk it off to a learning experience and I've only wasted a phone call. I've attached a web site that may be of some help to you; I took a look at Wake county and there are plenty of sources out there.

Good Luck !
