Hyppo,
I use the 'lade only for visiting friends at their used truck boneyard trailer parks, as a forwarder for rocking out on those pesky palm tree stumps and glazing the tires on yellow snow. Saint Alphonso (correct spelling) would be proud of me.

New Truck

Anything under a HD-F250 is JUNK! Period. F150's are great if you wanna drive the dog around with a bag of groceries in the truck. Other than that I would save my money are buy a "Real" truck. JMHO.

Hey Brian. I didn't read through the whole thread here, but have you considered a brand new truck? Rebates are really good right now. Like $4000 on 04 Heritage models and $3500 on Supercab new body 04 150's. Almost any dealer should be able to sell you a 04 truck near invoice, some below. Check out BrandonFord.com for their specials, sometimes they have real good deals...at least for you to do some comparison shopping.

I purchased my Bullitt Mustang from Don Reid though and they were ok to deal with. No real problems, they sold me the car for the price I wanted after a little arm twisting :D I bought my F350 from a dealer out of state, but it was too good of a deal to pass up :)

BTW, what Ford truck forum you on?

Edit: Nevermind, I just figured out which Ford forum :D I saw you posted in one of the same threads I did about the "stump grinding."

Truck

My opinion, for what it's worth{2 cents].If you like the Ranger, fix it.In your situation,a big 4 wheel drive,is not practicle.I am not really plugging Fords, althoughI work for them, but I have had excellent service from the few I've owned.I have a 77 f-250 beater, with 250 thousand miles, still runs great, although pretty nasty.I have an 86 Ranger, with 81 thou.,that I drive to work and use for most things ,other that heavy hauling ,towing, etc,no problem with it .The arguements concrning trucks, are like those concerning saw, nothing more than personal preferances. My opinions on trucks, are that they are simply a tool,no more no less.In my case,if I want to go in style,I would Drive one of my Mk 7's or my wifes Caddy.Another of my opinions are that I would rather spend my money on a product made in North America, that contribute to the coffers of some Pacific rim country.I have had this mind set ,long before working for one of the big 3.We do live in a free country, and can make that choice of what to buy,and how to spend our money. For that,I am thankful.

Thats funny, I have the exact opposite. I have a 2002 Cummins with a 2002 Dodge body. The dodge sucks but the Cummins is great!:p
rborist1 have you had an exhaust brake installed on yours? or know of anyone who has? I'm wanting to put on on mine, but would like to get the low down on them first. I'm wanting to go with the D-Celerator
Reading on it where it doesn't block off the exhaust when it fully open it's suppose to be the better one.

It's crazy what some people do to these things, I guy I used to work with took his cummins and put 8.3 liter injectors and 8.3 liter turbo on it then replaced the exhaust with a 4 1/2 exhaust, chipped it put K&N filter on it, and if that wasn't enough he threw a propane assist on it, for some reason he couldn't figure out why he kept tearing his tranny's out  I thought about chipping mine but I have a long way to go before the warranty is gone on mine. I could use the no trace on it but it's a bit of a hassle and to be honest it has enough power for what I want it for, I would just like to have better control on the braking when towing down hill, where the desiel doesn't have a way of controlling the air coming in like a gas engine to have compression hold you back.

I have a friend who put an exhaust brake on his powderstroke. He says it really helps on the downhills-He tows a fifthwheel about 900 feet long.

Thats one big arse fifth wheel ;) Thanks for the info on the brake.

Saw a dude on the tube put a propane boost on a diesel (Trucks!) on TNN or Spike or whatever its called this week. Came from Bullydog . looked interesting.

So let get it straight..... it's a 42 foooter when he slides it out. I think he might be in the wrong buisness then...

Is his unit the single, double or Triple slide out version. I saw my first triple last year. With everything pulled out it was basicaly almost the same sq ft as a house.
The guy who did own it said the chip, intake, exhaust and the tranny up grades made a big difference. But has to tune the motor back in winter or he just spins everywhere.
Later,
Chris

well pardon all of you i want a 1986 f250! cant find one anywhere! the truck is a beast and a gas hog and yes im sure ill need a pillow lol loved the way it droveand handled..unfortunately my dad didnt he sold it before i could wreck it lol

I think this one's a 89...and needs a wash. I think we get about ONE mile per gallon....but it will pull a loaded down cattle trailer without a hickup. It needs a step-up.
