I'm still not all that happy with mine. Yes it's a neat saw and works good, but I have seen a 200t outcut it, even after being opend up (by me), and that didn't help my missgivings any!! I was really needing a replacement for the 262 I shold have never gotten rid of:deadhorse: , and that saw was not it. I just figured from as much as these guys brag them up it would work for my needs, felling and firewood, better than it does.
I am to the point now I run the 046 80% of the time. It does use more gas, it does weigh more, but man it sure cuts fast!

Brother Andrew I never question your opinion but did you just write that you saw a 200T outcut your 346? Is that a typo or are you serious?? However if a 200T is outcutting your 346 I would say something is wrong with your 346. I'm no Husky fan, never have been, all look the same to me, square box with a hump on top, but fair is fair, a 200T should not outcut that 346. You sure you got that carb set right on your 346?? I remember you had a helluva time getting it adjusted to run pretty good. May want to check those adjustments again...

After running 044 and 066 I rarely use anything smaller. i consider the 044 handy enough to be my small saw. Dable with the wifes 260 pro now and then and wonder about the major vibration every one talks about. If you are used to big hard to ever go small again.

I hear ya Tom!!!! I have run it from 13.5 to 15K, no real difference to me really.
Had a guy come out and trim over my dads house, elms. no way to rig. He had a nearly new 200T with a 16". One tree was a removal, as he got down the igger stuff I handed up the 346, he used it and wanted his 200 back!!!!! He and I both played with it, but never where happy as we should have been.
That saw NEEDS very sharp chiesel, and I am not that good at it yet, so that gives a bit more credability to the saw.

bks makes another point!! With the 046 I can "blip" the throttle and cut a 2" branch like it's not there, with the 346 I have to hold it wide open all the way through the cut.
I am not saying it's a bad saw, it just doesn't meed my needs well.ds

Hey Red, Not trying to pick a fight but I have seen and used a 346. I think there is some thing wrong with your saw. I have used a 346 with a Low pro bar and chain that that saw would go through a two inch branch like a hot knive through butter. Not modded
I think that anybody that has a 346 and wants to improve on it go to a low pro bar and chain first.
BTW Stihl has never made any claims that they have a saw that can out cut a 346 in that cc size. and stock class for you mod junkies.

Naaaaaaa we won't put ya down for a buying a orange Poolan, sides that outfit needs all the help they can get,:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Manual I know ya just read that and I got some new news for you too ole boy. Come to find out Stihl hit N0.1 in 1971, I always thought it was 1974, hmmm, spared ya three years of torment, how nice of me huh, BTW, they've remained No 1 ever since , 36 years in a row, thats a helluva azz kickin for your brand to take but asprin is on sale, get gerneric brand, like your saws,:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Guess thats why stihl is cloning there saws after a Husky now.
#1 indeed.

Bro, you need you compare your 346 to ANOTHER 346, cause it seems from day 1 that something is amiss.

mine is a fast little monster. I put a 16" bar on her, and honestly, between the speed, and the light weight, you almost can't recommend much else for trails and firewood,
that said, I spent a lot of time with the 066 last weekend.

Hahaha, here's another note for ya Manual. I'm not positive but I will find out. I think Stihl makes more money selling chain and bars than Husky does selling chainsaws. Any idea what 50 million feet of saw chain is worth Manual, quite abit I would say. Stihl cloning Husky ya say, its not Stihl thats into the RE-BADGING business,:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Stihl would be better if they'd change their colors from butt-ugly orange and white.

That brings up an interesting point. There are lots of saws that are orange. The question is who was the first to put out an orange saw?

Sawtroll?
