When it comes to screamers, smaller saws that rev up fast, Husky is the one, no doubt at all about this, I know it well. You will not see too many Stihls juvenile spacing, it was all Husky when I did it, 266XPs, 254Xps, now its 346XPs and 357XPs I imagine. I ran a 357 slashing little trees under the lines a couple of years ago, nice. Fact is the Stihls are torquey machines, and thats great for big wood, little wood-they don't have the zing. Thall old buddy, c'mon now you old pirate, I'll say Stihl has the best in some areas (top handle, cut-off saws) you gots to admit Stihl is licked here.

Well Clearance ole buddy I'll have to take the word of Gypo, the old standard on this site. He's a Husky user and Stihl user too and here's what he said and I agree with him 100%. He said Husky is a one owner saw, that the Stihl will take much more abuse than a Husky, which to me is more important than anything else, including a second or so in the cut. I also agree with you about the torque, seems from what I'm reading the 346 is all rpms and no torque which is fine for small wood, won't argu with ya at all cept to say there's more to a tree than its limbs. Many people only own one saw and they would want torque over high speed rpm's, which might explain why Stihl stays at the top. Guys with many saws then true, screamers are fine.

(we got this thread going pretty good, hehe)

If you wanna have a screamer revver contest just bring that 346 over :)....I will put my 5100 against it :)

The MS361 does, when properly adjusted, and run in good+........

Now thats not a fair race dayumm your hide, the 5100(da Jewel) is in a class all its own and its bigger than the 346. I like the 5100 alot though mine has been acting up abit coming back down to idle but I haven't had a chance to piddle with it. Still like it though, ALOT.

Stihl and Huskies both are not as tough as they used to be back in the 80s, just not, more plastic. My favorites are in both camps, 266xp, 288xp, 028, 034, then later on 371&2 xps, 020/ms200t, 066, 395xp. As far as taking abuse, I dropped an 020 from about 80' once, it hit the ground and kept running with minor damage, I used a new 361, the chain came off and cut a hole in the gas tank. I have a 371 that has cut down many, many trees, gotten crushed and patched up and still cuts awesome. It revs up quick and cuts big wood as well, you just have keep it in its powerband. If I was bucking big wood on a landing then I would probably use a 660, right tool for the job. So, they both make good saws, if a homeowner is using the pro models from either outfit I figure they should last forever.

I have not seen the Narrow kerf in round chisel. Only round chisel
But yes the narrow kerf is made for these fast running saws.

The 95VP is semi, but has a much narrower corner than other semi-chisel...:)

.325 lo pro (Oregon 30-series) is on the way out, for good reasons.

Don't know anything about hot rodded 357's but I do know first hand a stock 361 and a stock 357 run close, so close its not worth talking about. I ran em both a month or so ago and though I like the 361 better, feels more solid, the 357 was right there as well. Both run good, real good. I was expecting more out of the 357 from all I read about it but it ran good none the least...

I agree once again with ya Clearance , I too think they both make good saws. However it does appear from all that I read the high speed hype always seem to come from the Husky camp. Those that use the Stihl's seem to talk more about longivity. I've had the pleasure of having several Huskies come in the shop of late due to no dealers around here and looking them over I'd have to say bluntly the Stihl is a stronger made saw which is why I think Gypo said they will take more abuse. That may not mean nothing to the pro's but to average Joe a broken chain brake, broken vib springs is a major turn off regardless of the performance of the saw. Hell Clearance last week I had to rig a Stihl muffler bolts into the head of a Husky because the man was furious his muffler fell off his 350. That to me is just poor craftsmanship and I've not seen it just once but several times here lately. Samething with the chain break handles, rounding out on the lever and then the chain is locked and the user can't get the guard off, seen two in last week like that. Right down embarrassing if ya ask me.

I took the "One owner saw" quote as nobody wants to Sell there Husky.

Yep Stihl stays on top. I herd they are coming out with a cup holder attachment.

You got to squeeze that think in the handle there, thal. :hmm3grin2orange: :deadhorse:

If I squeeze any harder the handle would have crushed,LOL Don't worry Space the 361 sitting beside a 357 has nothing to worry about. Both run good but the 361 is so much prettier, hehe
