So I talked to Rich at Bailey's yesterday - very helpful folks. Told him I wanted to put a 32 in bar on my Stihl MS460. After we discussed options and prices, I settled on an Oregon Powermatch with Woodland Pro 3/8 in rip chain. Looking to go with .050 gauge but have to wait until they get it in stock (looks like May)...at present they only have .063 B&C

Anyone think there are better options out there for a 32in bar on an MS460?

thanks
Scott

Why not go with a stihl ES bar? If price isn't a factor then get a stihl ES light bar. Much nicer to toss around all day.

3/8 .050 is what I have run on my 32" and 36" Stihl ES bars (066BB and 660). You could get some Stihl 33RM or WP semi-chisel chain and go milling rather than wait on the ripping chain.

Is there a reason that the Stihl ES is a better bar? I looked at it and think my 20 in bar is an ES - but I guess I can't necessarily figure out why this bar is better than that one or the next? Be happy to do my own Q&A if I could figure out where to do the research.

Oh and BTW looks like if I go with the ES I have to go to my Stihl dealer as Bailey's is not one. Timing is not an issue as I have a lot to do between now and mid-May with the yard and garden. But thank you for your responses because every bit of info is helping me learn

In what I've seen and used the Stihl bar will outlast the oregon by a good bit.
