I know this isnt a chain saw, but the handheld forum doesnt seem to get ANY feedback. Any one have one of these saws in there boneyard? I am in search of the lower handle/footpad for it. Looks like.Husky made these?

Also I noticed after removing the clutch, there was some oil residue that smelled like engine oil though and then noticed a little hole in the crank? Do rhese things dry or oil the clutch bearing purposely by design because they are used in wet conditions?

Can you post a picture of the broken part? I might have something that will work.

So the circled parts is actually two pieces screwed together with a pivot on the back right. I need all that.

Thats a K650 Active III

I have several of the lower handles. New or used.
I can't tell from that pic which half of the handle is broken.

If you have a wornout bearing in the clutch pulley, that would let grease sling out. Plus the blade won't stop at idle because when you tighten the belt up. It will pull the pulley at an angle and cause contact of the clutch on the drum, even at idle.
I'd put a 14" guard on it instead of the 12" one that's
on it.

That picture is actually a stock one off the web i grabbed because i wasnt home when i replied. This is my actual one below. I need both sides of the lower handle and the pivot thng on the back union, plus screws if you have all that. You can PM me a price out for both used or new. Used would be fine though.

I just cleaned the snot out of it and wiped it down with a oil rag making it look better. (Of course it will be oil free when its used or would look like a breaded chicken cutlet)

Thats a great feature to prolong the bearing life.

Sounds good in theory, but they didn't last any longer than any other designs, IMO.
I'll send you a PM tomorrow.
I see about 8-10 of those a year. They are great saws.
Epa regulations spelled the end of their production. The K750, (a stratified charge saw), was introduced to meet the meet the more stringent regulations, and did so for close to 30 years..

Thanks Alex, also let me know if you have a 14" guard for it. I assume it is just a easy swap out? Same 1" arbor is used?

Yes, It's an easy swap. I have a bunch of those in totes too.
There is an outfit called Concrete Supply House in KC that is an excellent source of Partner cutoff saw parts. The first time I got one of those Partners in for repair, I thought they were some cheesy Chinese crap, but they are actually very well designed saws. I put them right up there with Stihl and Husqvarna.
I had one Large road contractor that used them for about 10 - 15 years, and had a huge stockpile of nos parts, and and an equally large pile of dead saws. I got fortunate to get all of it, when they were cleaning out their shop. They were getting ready to chuck them all in the dumpster. Lucky me.
There were about 40 carcasses, and a bunch of K700 parts. All the hard to find stuff too, like switches, kill wires, av mounts, etc...

Just read this, WOW thats some score. Good timing, i hate when i ask a place if they have something and they say "oh we just threw away a bunch of those"

Got my pizza box today.....what no cheesy pizza lol. Gonna probably put the handle on tonight. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Great.
Should be a piece of cake. ....or uh.....er, pizza.

I bought a couple of mid to late 80's Partner chop saws this week for cheap. One K700 (non-active), and a K1200 Mark II, which is a heavy pig. It's the first one of these I've ran across. It has a strange exhaust t-port.

At first i couldnt figure out how that union joint went in and was gonna message you but I said "let me look at the ipl and give it another go" and I got it together. Thanks for all the hardware also, i had none of that except for a couple of the screws on the top . Totally bailed me out, thanks again!

The av mount is a good design on partners. I like how it is designed like some chainsaws, in that it has a safety catch If the rubber anti-vibration mount should fail.
Great that you got it finished. Post a pic or two if you please.

I have a new piston and clutch pulley for my Partner K1200 mark II now. I'll post a pic when I get it done.
Cheerio........
