Been working on an S50 Partner that I've had for a while. I put a new coil on it some years ago and had it running. After that, I bought a new bar and chain, installed them and couldn't get it started. Set it aside for a while again. When I first worked on it, I vaguely remember having trouble with the throttle linkage where it meets the trigger and doing something to get it to stay connected. Been long enough I don't remember. It came loose again when I pulled the carb to rebuild and can't remember what I did. It looks different that the pics of the S55 and bigger saws. The throttle trigger has a smooth dowel pin pressed in it, extending a bit out of both sides. The linkage from the carb has a bent oval loop on the trigger end where the minor dimension is about twice the diameter of the dowel pin. I need to know if and what is missing and which side of the pin on the trigger it should be installed on. Maybe it just need a retainer as on the carb end? But maybe a little larger. Thanks in advance for any held you can offer. John

IIRC,
there is a push nut that retains the linkage to the throttle arm on the carb.

also...
I needed to bend to extend the throttle linkage/wire to achieve WOT.

Another mod was to knead some jbweld putty and place on the trigger so as to extend below grip at WOT. Something about the ergonomics would allow partial throttle w/out intent.

Clear?

The push nut is on the throttle end, no problem there. I looked at some parts drawings and the S50 was pretty blurry in that area. The S55 and up show the linkage wire bent to go through the trigger, my saw has a bent loop on the trigger end of the linkage and a dowel pin around 1/8 in/3 mm press fit in the trigger. My biggest frustration is I had it working as some point but don't remember details. What is there looks original, I just think something is missing, another push nut, a pressed on bushing of some sort.

Does the left side rear handle come off easy? I can't recall.

If it is not too much of a headache,....I may,...just maybe, pull and snap a pic for you if no one else responds.

It appears that the rear handle on the S50 I have now is not able to be separated. The only fasteners are the two on the front edge to attach it to the saw. I have seen a drawing where the linkage is bent to fit through a hole in the trigger, the saw I have does that have that construction. Do you know of a part number reference that has text descriptions by part numbers. 202054 and 295636 look to be in the area of question to me. The pdf is lacking any detail in that area. If I get back to it, I'll see if I can drive the pivot pin out of the trigger and take a pic of it with the link.
Been looking at the handle assy and I think I'm getting an idea of what is going on. I think the dowel on the trigger is for the interlock which is gone. I can't see it well as it is still in the handle but it may have a hole in it too. Still not sure how I fixed it years ago but I think taking it out will help.
