It's all getting a little lost in the fog of history, but I don't recall TFJr being informative.  Seems he could have been if he'd wanted to share, though.

Regarding a locale being urged to open up its competition to outsiders, you'd think the USA should allow people from all over the world to participate in the coming elections.  It's just not fair of the country to be so exclusionary...

butch must have access to threads no one else has!

I can see why a show might not be opened to all.
For a show to keep its local people participating and preserve the "local" atmosphere it is necessary to exclude outside professional circuit competition. The local cutters just dont stand a chance and will very shortly cease to compete.
That is like Marky Mark going to a local turkey shoot.
I entered the local town chainsaw derby here this past summer. It was pretty much an extended family and friends kind of thing. They were using stock round chain and muffler modded saws. My saws have been modified by one of our AS sponsor builders and I ran some square filed chains that had some 10 or 15 hours modification on them. It really wasn't a level playing field and I won't be welcome next year except in one open class.
Personally i welcome competition because I value learning over winning, but those fellows don't have the time or resources to commit so why allow someone from outside spoil their little show. That I can understand, tho I am sure there are other points of view to consider

I'm glad we all don't look at things the same way would be a sad world if we did huh? I think the other comment might be stretching it a bit but hey thats why we live here in the great ole USofA, your free to think and speak your mind.

Three post and already a history buff?

Troll, troll, troll your post
Gently down the thread.......

Too bad there isn't a better way to identify imposters!

In the words of Jack "Go sell crazy somewhere else, we're all full up here!"

Don't kid yourself the " Professonals" like to set up and keep the duffers out of shows. Its about the money for them. Jon

BD if you don't like closed shows, why did you post about Grass Valley? That is closed to all except the ones Dennis Harvey feels like including. That was an open show years ago wasn't it? If it is a closed show the world records established there should not count anymore than making a record in your back yard.
Maybe you can come to Oroville and make the record again. I forgot you have to work. Where is it exactly you work Tim? Seems funny that you can't make it. I suppose it is like Superman and Clark Kent being at the same place.

Hey Rupe looks like it was a record. Don't be so sore.

There's no sanctioning body in our sport. The North American Lumberjack Guide and the Axemens News keep track of the records. There's a record submission form at the North American Lumberjack Guide that's sent to the executive board for the USAA who approve the placing of the record on the list at the guide. That's about it. To that end, the USAA appproves what goes on the guide. The Axemens News follows suit. So in order to get your name on the list, you have to go to the Guide or the usaa website and do a record submission. It happens at least eight to ten times a year. Most people don't submit and I catch the records when I'm doing the results for the Axemen's News.

Hope that helps.

All the best,
Jamie

Maybe you'll be the next record holder next weekend. One never knows..

Hey Big Douche, you better do something quick, that MS 290 you sold the Cleaning Wench is a real club, so she's real pissed and wants her money back.

sawracr, "Professionals" thrive on competion. Who ever is there, is who the competion is, for them. If someone like Mel Lentz showed up, he would run againist you any time, before he would try to keep you out of the show. Ask the 28 professionals from the Stihl Timbersports Series if it's just for the money. Who's kidding who?

Rupedoggy,

You must be confused between the Grassvalley Fair and The Draft Horse Classic. The Grassvalley Fair show hasn't been around for years. Dennis has tried every year to get it back, but the fair manger wants Monster Trucks. The Draft Horse Classic is an exhibition at a different time than the fair. Selected World Record holders and Timbersports champions are invited to show there skills. Sorry you weren't invited, but we all know why, now don't we.
I didn't run the saws there Rupedoggy, you must be confused again, Rolin, Dennis, and Dennis Harvey did! and if I can make Oroville early I'll try, but I do have to work. I'm a gaming Inspector at Colusa Casino.
Whether Rolin's cut becomes an offical World Record doesn't even matter, what does matter is those cuts and times were done and seen by many. See ya at Oroville EH Rupedoggy!

By the nature of these folks being champions, we already know they have skill. It's a closed show but world records can be made? Am I the only one who see's the hypocrisy here? So I guess I can make a record this weekend in my backyard and have my dog witness.

By the way BD how is it that you seem to know Mike when nobody here has even heard of you? Your misuse of the word "there" would suggest that you're a current member who's been banned about a dozen times.

Hi Lucky, I'm on your side. I'm not sure of DB's identity, but I think it smacks of some backyard bandit. It's gotta be Meatloaf, the guy that calls me regularly about chain.
John

But on second thought Lucky, I bet it's that sniveling Rotax Robert trying to break into the Fales Cahoon crowd so as to sneak chain secrets and give them to Art Martin.
John

Yeah lucky,

Records can be made at any type of show. Closed, Open, Exhibition, or Pubs in New Zealand. You can have a contest in your backyard and try to set a World Record if you want. Bring your dog or who ever. It really don't matter, because you can't even come close to doing it! LoL
Who would you like Dennis Harvey to invite to his exhibition, lucky? There's not very many people that even have the equipment to do exhibitions like this. The best people were invited and they put on a great show for the crowd. Like I said before lucky, many people saw these fast cuts, and it doesn't even matter to Rolin if it's recorded. But it does seem to matter to you! LoL
You will see some more pictures of me soon, but I'll be who ever you want me to be. Later
