A dealer nearby wanted to clear some non running chainsaws, I was more than happy to remove his junk.

A couple of big stihl's the 041 just needs a muffler

Not the 166, but I'm willing to part with the predator :hmm3grin2orange:

Yep! lots of collectors are after a 166.

Good for you on picking up a 166. It shouldn't be too hard to get you a usable piston. Hopefully you're not missing too many other parts for it.

The 041 muffler is fairly easy to come by. Parts are usually cheap for the 042s as well.

Nice haul!

I asked a dealer if I could help him clear a few saws......"no...we sell parts off of them".... Oh well! Jonsered dealer Part of 'bag it tag it'!

Apart from the chain-brake handle and a few screws it looks all there, Jacob if you can find a piston... your an absolute legend

A 166 is a special kind of find man, congrats. If you are looking to dump that 042 I may just be interested.

I had a quick look at the 042, it has spark and compression, apart from a busted AV mount it should be a runner, this dealer didn't bother looking too hard for parts.
He just chucked the saws on the junk pile if they weren't a quick fix.

The front AV buffers are quite difficult to find and the last NOS ones sold for something like $25 a piece on Ebay, this may be why the shop owner side lined that saw because on a appearance scale that one rates pretty high. I have a used front buffer here that is swollen up pretty bad but it still seems to be solid, you can have it if you end up needing it.

Great find Wayne, that old 166 will be a great project for you. I see an S10 there too, do you need any parts? I have a parts saw here.
Nice little Oleo there too, but that Poulan - ooh!

Al.

An excellent score Wayne - well done. At least the cylinder is okay on the 166. That would be your big dollar rebuild item if the bore was worn or damaged. Let me know what you are missing regarding hardware etc as I have a few spares on hand.

Well done mate.

Chris.

PS - I hear that the weather is really nice down there at present - Autumn at its best.

I found the problem, the rear AV buffer is missing

The S10 was a project I finished a couple of weeks ago, it should be on my shelving, but it's full :D

Thanks Chris, I'll let you know if I need any bits, I'm going to rearrange my shed first, at present I don't have room to swing a cat .

I just posted an ebay link for Wayne to that guy in Germany, but again, he's an unknown/untested quantity.

I know somebody that has them too but they're very expensive and I believe the guy doesn't want to sell anymore.

It seems the master control lever for the 042 is a tough bird to find. It might be cheap but I sure have not found one. I do not personally need one but a fine gentleman in Eldridge Iowa does.

Bill

Bill-

That's the one part that is tough to find for the 042/048. I'll look through my gear tonight and see if I have one. If I do, your friend can have it.
