I found a 2100cd on CL this morning, a short phone call later, it is mine. Photos show it to be in good shape, ad says that the owner cannot get it started. Anything I should look for when I tear into it in the next few days? Normally, I would not go after a saw that the owner can't start, but his asking price left little room to bargain. I guess I have drug this out long enough, I am only paying 50.00 for the saw with a 25"? bar and three new chains.:jawdrop:
If anybody has advice for what to look for first to get this thing running, I would appreciate it. I'll get back on when I have more info on my find.

easiest way to get it running is throw it in a box and see what shipping is to 43410 I will sort it out for ya and then test it for the next 5 years might even be nice and ship it back on my dime giggles. j/k take the muffler off check for piston scoring make sure the rings are not frozen to the piston then plan on a carb rebuild kit maybe a new intake and new fuel lines this should make her fire then check to make sure both sets of bearings are good (no play) then tune your carb and get your bar and chain out make sure your oiler works put it all back together and go cut a boat load of wood.

Update

I haven't had a chance to tear into it yet. But here is what I found out from a good staring at. Good condition 24" Oregon bar (53), 3 almost new chains (3x15=45) I am already up 45 even if the motor is junk. The owner told me that he thought the jets are clogged. The only check I did was to make sure the piston wasn't frozen before feeling guilty and handing him 50 bucks. I didn't get home until about 10:30 and I have to work at 8, so I didn't open 'er up. Needless to say, I didn't get a lot of sleep last night.

Fuel, Fire, Compression??????

If you give up on it, I wouldn't mind throwing another one on my 2100 shelf.

you're losing sleep over $50 :buttkick: :buttkick: ;)

I know where there are several being parted out less then 20 miles from you.. so you'll be able to get any needed parts. :)

Wrong reason

I'm not losing sleep over spending $50, I was excited about tearing into my new toy after work tonight.

2100's being parted out?

Who around here is parting out the 2100's? I have found that I will probably need an ignition module, as well as a few small misc. parts.
