Got the RA back together tonight. One problem - the bar appears to be for a Husky and with the 3/8x .050 x 72 chain, the adjuster slot is way beyond the adjuster. Guess the easiest thing to do would be to shorten the chain.

Believe it or not, the bar and chain from my Stihl 015 fits very well but I don't think I want to be running 14" bar with 3/8 LP on a 100cc saw. This is why I didn't post photos tonight. You guys would be laughing too hard to get anything else done the rest of the weekend. Hmmm...wonder how fast that 3/8 lp would be?

I could also make a reducer for the slot and weld it in place.

Any other ideas?

RA Clip

Well, my first set back on the RA. Got the bar problem fixed with a spacer in the adjuster slot. When I went to clamp the top cover down, the lip/catch on the rear of the cover snapped off.

I can probably weld it or make a new one but does anyone have a cover that's not worth using with a good catch on it?

My pioneer 600...

Hi all, first time i post here but i did read alot of your post. I'm from quebec and usually speak french. I got my pioneer at a metal recycling place where i did worked and bought it for 15$ as the piston was stuck.
I found another one to use for pieces but it was also a stuck saw. I did ask recently to jerry here (pioneerguy600) to try to find some missing parts and he was a great help to find some rings... i'll try to show you some picture i took this afternoon of my project.

Later all,
Luc.

You got lucky there Luc,..you have the original Pioneer recoil starter for your 600, most were changed out for Fairbanks Morse recoils as the plastic pawl on the original Pioneer starter often broke when the saws were new and tight.

ya, that's one of the reason why i want to do this project. Would be just great to know how many of this starter assy was done befone they changed it... the complete first year 1959???

But, working on a limited budget does not help... but this must be the same for all of you too....

I did check today for the stihl 076 rings and modify them as someone post the idea here. They are available real near here.. but they cost like 30$ each. Is it a good price ? i can say i was a bit surprised. héhé

Later guys,
Luc

That is a fairly expensive route to go, did you check into the Caber rings? They are in the $7-$12 range.

Does anyone know what the carb adjustments are on a pioneer 2073?

The Tillotson HU carb used on the 2073 has only the Low speed adjustment needle set at 7/8 to 1 full turn out from lightly seated. The idle air adjustment is set to give a good idle below clutch engagement rpm, slow enough that the chain is not spinning. The High speed is not set with an adjustment screw but rather by the size of the jet inthe carb.
