I've put quite a few together with no gasket Carl and never had a problem. Those saws run a lot of squish, 80/90 thou is common.

Some things are just not ment to be.

Got the P-21 together and primed and started. Spun a bit and he locked up solid.

Must be something wrong with the cylinder I'm not seeing..........................................................:bang:

Post mortum tomorrow.

Crap. Welp, I got a cylinder. Let me know what you need.:msp_wink:

I got a P21 and a P26 to clean up, both run as is. Will take picts berore and after cleanup. I used to just give these small P series saws away for free but I now realize I need to keep one of each for my growing collection.

LOL,..I am always looking out for anything with Pioneer on it, must get my stuff together and get a pict of it. I just got a limited edition belt buckle, very heavy all cast metal one that I have not seen another like it.
Would like to see a photo of the belt buckle. I have 3 different ones.
Picked up a couple of more Pioneer signs and a Pioneer Partner clock/sign (double sided) Lucked out and got an owners/parts manual for my IEL firepump as well. I think we need a thread or place for collections on display??

I will take and post a couple of picts of this buckle and I agree that we do need/ should have a thread where we can have picts of collections of things related to chainsaws but not parts or saws themselves. Lawrence wanted to ship me a Pioneer sales and service sign from over in Vancouver, it was always stored inside and looked brand new/ mint but I thought it would likely get broken and passed on it, could kick myself now....LOL ...That twin water pump is certainly a rareity, not likely many of those still kicking around out there.

P21 post mortum.

Replacement piston and serviceable cylinder excaped unharmed. Apparently we still have some debris from the shattered piston skirt snagged up in one of the main bearings.

Two rinse and blow cycles of the crankcase weren't enuff.

Onward and upward!

I know Jeff likely has this one but its the first one I have like it,

Might be time for new bearings and seals.

Pioneer P-42 rings needed

I'm in need of a set of piston rings for a Pioneer P-42 chainsaw. Anyone have any laying around they'd care to part with? Part # 507-475355 .025 thick for 1.875" bore If you have two, I'd be greatly appreciative. Let me know ASAP via PM and your demands. Thanks.

Pawn shop P-39 find today

Stopped this afternoon at a pawn shop I had only visited once before, they actually had more than the usual Craftsman/Homelite/Poulan saws on the shelf. Of interest were a Stihl 041 Farm Boss, a Husky 61 and a Pioneer/Partner P-39 that looked virtually new. Had the usual overpriced sticker on it, took a set of channel lock to get the fuel cap off it had swelled so bad. Took it outside and got it to fire after 1/2 dozen pulls, but it never would sling any oil. They wanted $150 for it but I had to pass at that price.

They seemed disinclined to deal (stood firm on $99 for the Husky though it would not idle) so I doubt there is much wiggle room to be had. Since it is around the corner from work I can grab a picture Monday if anyone is interested.

475355 is the piston itself. The rings are 473961.
