Hi all, I was recently given some NOS Pioneer parts, rings, gaskets, air filters ect ect. Theres a part number that I cant work out, its piston rings #427068, not even sure if these ringe are labeled correct? My 1967 parts cross reference book skips this number?

Pioneer 1200A (barn find)

New to this Forum ... Inherited an old barn find Pioneer 1200A ... seems like it has compression ... I tried a carb gasket kit but found the diaphram very floppy ... no luck getting it to stay running. Passed it onto a colleague who took into a shop & they said nothing they can do no parts are available for it. They did say it was a nice one though. Before I put her to rest I thought I'd give'er one more go. I'll post pictures soon as its on my bench. Any advice / direction appreciated. Cheers.

B.S. Parts are available if you are motavated enuff to search them out.

Those saws are simple to get running baring major piston/cylinder damage. I suggest you go back thru the carb. and make shure you have the metering diaphram in correctly and gaskets/diaphrams in correct order.

Pull the flywheel and clean a gap the points.

Get it up on the site and with the help of the members here you can get it running fine yourself. Shops don`t want to deal with old saws like this, costs them too much chasing parts, you wouldn`t want to pay the repair bill from a shop for the labor they spent on it.

got home a little bit ago with some saws again.

I would love to have that IEL in my IEL collection great score :msp_thumbsup:

Looks like it's missing the aluminum mag guard too. Great score. Wow. Do you have the helper handle for that double ended bar? Hope that one is going to the museum too. Gonna be crowded in there!

Thanks Tim!

I like to pretend I don't need no steenkin' manual, but I'll definitely have a look.

Much appreciated.

The exhaust will be tough, but doable. The mag cover is sand cast, you can use mine as a mold and I have the exhaust to copy as well, if I can copy your sprocket cover:tongue2:. We both need the air filter. Looks like Trover just spun his on a lathe, I might do the same. In the mean time be VERY careful with the unprotected Bakelite mag cover. They are fragile. The carb will be impossible to find, but with your luck, who knows.

thanks sheldon. i need to hit trover up anyway maybe he has an idea on some things. so your holding out on us .:msp_wink: the exhaust looks to be welded steel. right on the mag . things are soaking. should be able to get the oil and fuel caps off with some heat cycles. deal on the sprocket cover. as far as the stinger go's look's like the same through the letter series saws. i think.
