Farmsaw II with blue coil.

If I understand it correctly, I can use the solid state coil from a Super EZ?

SXL-AO, Carl. I don't think its the same as a S-EZ.

The XL-1's used that blue coil as well. You will have to use the lamination from the coil from the saw you are trying to restore.

Some guys have had luck with baking the Prestolites to fix them. I think 325 deg F for 4 minutes in the oven was the procedure.

Not all SXLAO's have the blue coil. I just picked up a late SXLAO with a back module, Not sure what it is. I have clean to it up to see what it is.

Looks like an ra is the same.View attachment 421704

The RA is the same, they are actually the first 600 but because they were sandcast mag bodied saws they were made by IEL just before the sellout and the resulting move to Peterborough Ontario. Once production was set up and started there the saws were then die cast using reusable molds to make the components. The new system changed from lettered models that IEL made to the numbered system Pioneer used throughout its lifespan, hence the new line of 600 series was started. The shroud from a RA will fit a 600 and 610 fine. There were a good number of replacement shrouds made for the 600 series saws but I could not find info on where they came from, I had 20 of them after cleaning out the Pioneer leftover stock from the local dealer, it did not take long before they were all gone but one that I still have and will keep just to see if I can determine who made and distributed them.

Cool little snippet of info there. I think it's neat hearing these stories. I about brought my mother to tears showing her the video of me getting this old girl runnin'. It was her fathers saw and I guess a flood of memories came back. Can't hardly wait to get the shroud and a good chain and let mom and dad see it run in the flesh.

The 1958 Pioneer 600 was my dad`s first new chainsaw, I was with him when he picked it up. The mechanic started it up and tuned it a bit, I can still remember clearly watching that big saw bouncing on the bench snorting puffs of blue, the heavy thump of the exhaust note and the vibration that saw put on the bench. Memories like that is why I still own and maintain that saw and all the ones he owned after that. I still have every saw either one of us ever had for own personal saws, does my soul good knowing this.

I am needing a topcover for a 750/850. I've got a couple parts saws of the same series but no useable topcovers. Paint condition doesn't matter, nor does cracks because I am re painting the whole saw and can have them welded up. I've got lots of stuff to trade, or cash. Thanks

I live at 5620' and am always having people ask about compression on a saw, I never read over 120/125 and tired of seeing 195 claims. What would be the factory compression on a P61? I know that it is a 18% change for my altitude.
