Does my heart good to see that old 650 again, still remember the last truckload of firewood I cut with it on a cold night with a full moon on a snowy hardwood ridge, coyotes on all sides of me howling.
I have gotten two saws from Jerry. This one, which I consider my coolest saw, & my favorite saw of all time, my Jonsered 2094.That saw is more traveled then I am if you sent it to Hawaii haha
I do believe it was the winter of 2010, we were in a big hardwood ridge that year called, Eagle Ridge, there was much past mature hardwood species that needed harvesting as they were dead or dying. Winter time is the best time to be in the woods, the ground is hard,no mud or flies and less sweat. That ole 650 was in good mechanical condition it would idle forever and did have very good acceleration. for such a heavy flywheel. That’s a nice memory. What year was that? I’m always impressed with the throttle response on this saw.
That 2094 still running? The piston and cylinder had no wear, the compression was very high and it could break a chain if dogged into hardwood. I was building 394`s at that time for some fellows that bucked hardwood daily in big woodyards locally and I had used the port layout and timing from the 2094 on the 394`s with a slightly higher exhaust. They ran shorter bars and wanted chain speed for their cutting chores.I have gotten two saws from Jerry. This one, which I consider my coolest saw, & my favorite saw of all time, my Jonsered 2094.
Yes. I went through it recently. New carb, rings, & crank seals. Shaun Carr welded & retapped the spark plug hole. Looks as new, he does amazing work. That 2094 still running? Sounds good Jeff, I see the gasoline has removed some paint on the fuel tank.Still chugging along.

Yes, it lost some right after I got it & kept going from there. I don’t have any special equipment but I really want to try my hand at painting it. I’ll have some questions for you when I’m ready.Sounds good Jeff, I see the gasoline has removed some paint on the fuel tank.
Hi Beavers, I think your right about the saw having the Performance Plus kit, I would like to see the full serial # to figure out what year the saw is, I have looked for over 35 years for the kit in Ontario and have never found one so the saw is a great buy, both my P52 Plus saws have WJ carbs and I purchsed my first one new in 1987 and it is gray and a CB saw and the next P52 is a CBW purchsed new from the original selling dealer used around 1990 in Ontario and it is also gray and it is a late 1986 saw , I have a original sales brrochure dated 02/87 and the Pioneer Partner P65 to the P39 Plus are all yellow and Black so some must have been sold that way. The only saw that I have that came with a SDC80 carb is my P62CBW, My P65 has a WJ38A and its original but I `am sure that Plus kit had the SDC80 carb, sure would love to have found a kit. CBW saws were hard to find in Ontario back in those years and usually people cutting the big hardwood trees had them and that`s how I started buying my first Western saws to cut them on our one farms4Sorry , gave you the wrong colour info. My PP52 Hi- po is Black frame also.
l beleive that the PP52 Plus came in Grey.
Your Saw may have had the 52 Plus performance kit installed at some point in the past.
Can you see thru the exhaust ports whether or not the Piston pin is closed.
lt looks like in the pic that your Carb has the the brass plug on the right had side , the (ungoverned) sdc80 , it is deleted.
In your pic it looks like the Str grip and Gas/Oil cap are Grey coloured , and probably original to the saw
@Beavers confirmed my PP52CBW has had the plus kit installed at some point. It’s missing the air filter and muffler, but has the correct top end and sdc 80 carb. Upper and lower frames will be getting powdercoated black and new decals on order. Should clean up well.Hi Beavers, I think your right about the saw having the Performance Plus kit, I would like to see the full serial # to figure out what year the saw is, I have looked for over 35 years for the kit in Ontario and have never found one so the saw is a great buy, both my P52 Plus saws have WJ carbs and I purchsed my first one new in 1987 and it is gray and a CB saw and the next P52 is a CBW purchsed new from the original selling dealer used around 1990 in Ontario and it is also gray and it is a late 1986 saw , I have a original sales brrochure dated 02/87 and the Pioneer Partner P65 to the P39 Plus are all yellow and Black so some must have been sold that way. Hi, That performance kit sure makes a big difference compared to a standard P52 which I also have and I think the standard P52 is a bit under powered compared to my P42 and P45 saws, great find on that saw@Beavers confirmed my PP52CBW has had the plus kit installed at some point.
