I expect if you pull the flywheel cover off you will find oily sawdust packed in the cover and the fins minimizing the cooling effect. Boiling fuel is a pretty common issue on older saws since the fuel tank is essentially a part of the crankcase and get pretty warm. Anything you can do to promote good airflow will help.

I just had the cover off the other day because the clutch was slipping. Turns out the springs were impregnated with black sawdust. I did give the whole area a cursory clean. I'll go back in and confirm.

This is all good to know. I'm basically a saw newbie because my ms362 has always just worked and this P20 just fell into my lap. Learning as I go.
