So, its time to arque about limbing... first of all, how many side´s of tree do you limb? and ofcourse, which saw you use for limbing and it bar lenght...

I, myself use my all-a-round husky 353G with 13" for limbing and felling and I limb all four sides of tree on spot...

Is this a trick question? I did not know a tree had 4 sides LOL, I mean they are round so technically they have one side, it is just infinite...? So my answer is "One side"?

I am sorry, it is early and I am bored..

I also don't get it. Is it "limb" , as in limbing a tree that is horizontal (cut)? If it's a big horizontal conifer, I walk from the base to the tip, and limb three sides, using both sides of the bar, logger-style. That is, unless it looks like it's gonna roll, then just the uphill side and top from the ground. If the branches are big, I walk up each side cutting them in half first; makes clean-up easier, and there's good stove wood in the butt halves.

limbing as in cutting branches off from felled tree... and by limbing three sides i mean limbing the sides and upper side, leaving branches under the tree untouched...

Can't speak as to limbing for cutting saw logs. For firewood, I limb all 4 sides in that I start at the top and limb and block on my way down the log.

four sides start from the bottom ,with the spencer tape hooked in :)
Use a 346xpg !!

I use my bow saw to do most of the limbing. (4" and under) that way I can hear my tree boss hollerin' when he needs something. Other than that, I use my Poulan 2500 w/18" bar because my $500 Husqvarna is STILL in the shop after 6 weeks and still no fix. :dizzy:

I done it both ways

Sometimes I go from the butt to the tip with the 260 and remove everything that can be done (3 sides??). Sometimes I go from the top down limbing, and blocking with a 460. Sometimes I drop 3 or 4 trees, and limb them all with the 260 until it is out of gas, then finish with the large saw.

It all depends on mood.
