Poll: How many of you use hardcases for your chainsaws?

Wondering how many of you utilize hardcases on a regular basis for storing and transporting your chainsaw?

Nope. Most just travel as they are. The 543xp stays in the Dakine chainsaw backpack.

Nope, not currently. I did have a few years ago... none of them held up that great, and truth be told I don't think they protected the saws any better then being in the tool box on the truck. Which also stays locked unless I'm getting something out of it.

All mine have a True North scabbard, the head is unprotected.

No, just use scabbards on the bar / chain.

They make a good grab and go complete kit. I can store fuel, oil, extra chain, sharpening tool, scrench. Grab the helmet, chaps, and belt, and I’m ready for basic cutting work.

My MS250 came with one and I'll usually leave it in the case (especially when it's riding in the trailer behind the quad and it's muddy), but none of my other saws have cases.

My MS250 came with a case as well, almost never use it. I do have a scabbard for the bar though, as do most of my other saws. Cases are nice but for the most part I don’t use them.

I have my grandpas old 015AV. It has a custom fake leather scabbard on it with his initials branded into it and it lives in the plywood box that he built for it. The box has repurposed cabinet hinges and the hasp is made from one of his old leather belts. There is some sentimentality in me keeping it as it is. My other saws just have the dumb orange scabbards on the bars and they ride around in the pickup bed until there is no more room. Then they get speared between the firewood rounds for the ride home. Saw boxes just take up too much space for my needs.

Both my saws stay in the hard cases they came with. At any given time my saws bounce between 3 trucks 2 quads and a tractor. Everything I need is in each case, I grab my sawcase, fuel jug, oil jug and go.

That said, I’m curious about those chainsaw bags. I wouldn’t switch, but they look neat.

Stored on a shelf, transported in a case if they fit. Some of the old saws are too wide, they just get a bar scabbard.

Nope, most of my saws wouldn't fit in a case anyway. They ride just fine in my toolbox or the back of the truck. As far as storage, I think having a case would just make waste of precious space.

does a rather violent chuck into the back of a pickup truck followed by gas and oil jugs count?



I might add that throwing gas cans at chainsaws gets expensive... them cans ain't cheap.

I consider it a win if the right length scabbard is on the saw. I can't imagine casing them or finding cases that fit.
If we are traveling with out the trailer we use 2 job boxes, pile gas tools in one and battery tools in the other does that count as a case?

We don't need no stinkin hard cases. My Polaris supports my 028 just fine.

Mine ride around in a scabbard only. Most of my saws wouldn't fit in a case anyway and if they did, I don't want to take the time to take them in/out of the cases.

I've only recently started using a scabbard, and I'm not sure it's worth the hassle.

Case, no. I could see using one in certain situations, but it'd be to protect whatever vehicle is carrying the saw, not protect the saw. Keep bar oil out of a car trunk or something like that.
