While I realize that they are rating homeowner saws, they are all from North America. I like how they suggest we should have a "husky gasoline saw for bucking and cutting the tree, backed up by an electric at home".

does anybody have a electric start mccullach that was mentioned in the article? I know I spelled McCullach wrong, but I don't have the yellow fever mine is more of a Husqvarna orange fever. But still really interested in seeing one of those old yellows.

At least one guy in the McCulloch thread has a 3-10E or 5-10E. If you spell the name right (no Yellow Fever needed...........................we can spell Husqvarna after all....) then they might post some pics...:D

Oh yeah I love seeing guys run saws in there sandals

Ask and ye shall recieve. Here's the one I redid for my brother. No jumper cables, but I did have the pigtai on it to check the generator (it doesn't work. You have to use an external charger.).

are you going to try and retro fit a charging system or leave it as a plug in charging system? and that thing sure does oil well!

Remington made a few electric start chainsaws in the early '70s. I think they were Mighty-Mite variants. There's a guy who advertises an IPL for one on my local CL about every six months or so. IIRC he wants a whole $5 for it (the IPL...........don't think he has the saw).

Very nice. Very cool with the actual power pack. Rep sent.

All the charging system is in place, I just haven't dug into it. We have about a dozen E start Macs, but that one is the only one we bought batteries for. I have a 3-10E in the garage now waiting for batteries, and I took all the electrical stuff off another 5-10E and made it a pull start only. It's mostly for show, so hooking the charger up before we use it is no big deal.

Heres a link to the Remington. There was a small battery pack that you clipped on your belt. You simply plugged it in to start it.
I gave one to my MIL,for her to cut kindling. It was very easy to start. She never wore the battery, just kept it handy.
