I'm debating on what to do with the bottom of the transfers.... I'm thinking of putting a knife edge on the divider, but keeping it down low as to not take too much volume out from below the piston. Suggestions?

Round the bottom edge of the transfers.

You can still skinny the exhaust dividers a bit and angle them back, you can also go wider on the outside two.

Ported!!

Here is the finished exhaust port and transfers.

Final numbers are:
Exhaust = 103*
Transfers = 120*
Squish = .022"

Exhaust ports. Thinned bridges and dramatically widened. Raised from 111* to 103*. I can't say enough about cutting the squish band.

Transfers (pics aren't the best here). From 125* to 120*. I spent a lot of time matching the port height and width from side to side.

This is the original muffler port with locating tabs hanging way inside the port... Probably the most restrictive part of the saw.

And here is the port matched muffler. It is matched better than the pics look here.

I'm excited to see how this little saw runs. I really think removing the base gasket (original squish of .052" with .030" gasket), port matching the muffler, and removing at least one of the muffler screens would make a huge improvement on any of these saws. Advancing timing might be pretty helpful as well.

Next step is reassembly with my son and waiting on parts (maybe Saturday). This saw has been an exceptionally enjoyable one. I really can't get over the build quality and bang for the buck with these saws.

The suspense is really killing me on this one!!!:msp_scared:

I bet if this little tomato slicer rips like I think it will, Ebay prices will rise!!....Sure glad I already have a stash of my own.:msp_biggrin:

Nice work!!

I was just thinking of that... I picked up this little guy for $20 locally, including a few quarts of bar oil and a 2.5 gallon fuel jug.

+1

They're frequently on CL in my area mega-cheap and I'm always tempted to get "just a couple more for parts".:chainsaw:

Guess I'd better, huh? And pull the base gaskets on my other ones.:rock:

You guys are makin me hungry....

Looks like its time for my soy bacon! :laugh:

It runs!

The rings made it!!! They are 38mm Caber rings with that are notched for a pin. I matched them in opposition to help the seal.

I used the venerable Yamabond 4 for the base. After getting it all back together, I may need to make a very thin base gasket as it is right on the edge of free-porting the bottom of the exhaust.

I had to elongate the mounting holes in the coil. The coil is mounted to the cylinder, so dropping the base took all of the adjustment out of the coil.

Here is the saw all buttoned up after using the Granberg to file back about $10 worth of Stihl semi-chisel chain that came with the saw and the hard-nose bar.

Cold compression is 190 psi at 3,600ft. elevation.

I'm heading out to the woodlot in the AM to tune it in and grab some video. We'll see how the 200T takes it.
