Rolla, if you want to see more lurkers brought out, report the abusive flamers who scorch someof the less experienced posters and scare off many more.

AS site rules say rudeness and harassment are out. Good rules to post by. Oh, and next time a non-tree idea pops in your head, post it offtopic.

I think most of the non posting viewers are just too awe stricken at the spectacle to reply. A lot of you apes is enough to make a "Fakir" stare!

You would be amazed at the number of people who are just registered, and never make a single post. Just check the members pages and click on the top ten posters, then work your way back.

You guys are arguing over silly stuff. Views also consists of how many times you looked at the thread to keep current with new posts. Each time any of you posters or nonposters "views" the thread to see what "new" posts were added, that counts as a "view". It would be silly to expect someone to post everytime they read additions to the thread. Then we would all have post counts like Butch.;) It might only be 10 or 20 of us generating hundreds of views. Comprende?:D

post vs.views

I have been a part of this site for a couple of years now.
Most of the contributors to this site have already experienced thing I have. I do not share my "stuff", because I am here to be a part of our community. To learn...
However, I do get bored with the same people shareing their opinions/experiences. I believe there are probably 10-15 people that are the major contributors to this site.
If I was a casual observer, I would have a hard time sorting the seed from the chaff...
My favorite is the kid who keeps talking about his fathers tree work. He needs his own web site.

Talking about me? That sounds more like treescompany to me.... And I have an awful lot of websites. In fact, I had a website of my websites. :D

This site has way too many lurkers and too few posts. I'm completely serious. Compared to other sites with thousands of posts a day, this is in slo-mo. I know a lot of intelligent people who visit this site but NEVER POST. What's up with that?

People sucking bandwith off the server and never giving anything back. How can that be a community?

Attaboy Nick!
Now your contributing on a different level
your schoolin is obvious but now it is personal
Feels good to be part of something eh this is what is missing at the other sites and what makes us real!:blob2:

I would say that I grew in school. I learned some, but I mostly changed as a person. People have told me that a lot.... And going to Europe had a big impact. I skipped a lot of classes and never studied for hardly anything, but I wasn't going for a degree. I was going for the total education package. Cuz I've got a job already!

Do you believe in freedom of speech?

Well then how about the freedom to choose not to speak?

They are one in the same if you ask me...

The fact that many come here to learn without adding their own thoughts makes no difference to me..... bandwidth or not... no more difference than how may people are listening to the same radio or TV show that I Am.... The more eyeballs that come, the better for the owner and his advertising revenue, which allows him to provide this excellent forum....

On the other hand as has been mentioned a bit of late.... the many uninformative, irrelevant, and uninspiring posts do cost me dearly... I have to look through them for the nuggets... and if sometimes I miss a few nuggets, cause I don't want to search through all the meaningless morass of word sputle... then that could cost me even more.... Guess that's just a price everyone has to anti up to play at this table... Gets tiring though. Of course the funny posts are great and those revealing some good character of their authors are worthwhile..

I recently got particularly tired of Glens repeated netiquette requests and told him so publicly and prvately....

On the other hand if some lerker learns a thing or two from something I've brought to the table, then good for him... That makes me feel extreme joy... no thanks are needed...

 The beauty of having little kids in the house...

It's a perfect camoflauge for adults to watch cartoons.

And play in the sandbox.
And the swingset.

Well, if we have all these people and thoughts and minds in the same room, why not make use of the opportunities? The sun is shining!

And Internet broadcasts are different. Unlike TV and radio where you invest in coverage based on geography, the Internet is worldwide immediately and you pay by the byte or gigabyte.

We've got a great thing going here, let's not be afraid to continue to grow and improve.

I just don't see a the big deal; if you don't have anything to contribute to a particular thread, why post?

but that's probably because most folks took one look at the thread and said
