Ok, this is my FIRST post and I read these forums at least twice a week...

I am just a rec climber here trying to learn as much as I can about climbing techniques and basic tree care. My guess is that there are many more like me here... We don't have much to offer to the discussion, but surely appreciate you guys making your accumulated knowledge available... I am just trying to soak as much in as possible. Maybe at some point when I have specific questions, I will post them...

Thanks!
Zach

Welcome aboard zmatzkin.. Only been here a month or so my self,
I to had been reading the site for ages but never offered any coment,

Lurking in the background, I posted a question and bang got lots of great info...stuffed up heaps to begin with(still do) RJS was kind enough to tell me how to post a reply, not start a new thread responding to each answer..what a mess I made of the fourm...mabey i was a little daunted by the number of posts people had to start with...3 and 5 thousand posts, the info they've shared must be enormous, how do you catch up on that..

Felt like if I asked a question I might of been told to go look it up..
Its the "live" "living" vibe of this place that makes it so good..

I have contributed stuff all to this site really, I'm in the company of experts here and dont have the skills and amazing knowlage these guys have..but its not all about climbing tricks either..you feel like your a part of a group..When you post a pic, make a funny coment..Hangin out with your mates, your peers..

Mike (You'll meet him) says it best "The only silly question is the one you dont ask" fire away, the boyz will be on their best behavoir, wont you guys...We need to bring em out of the woodwork...Keep posting zmatzkin...

Now excuse i think I need to scrape some skin off rolla

Take care.... Derek...

zmatzkin,
Welcome to the site. I am not even a rec climber yet, but plan on getting some gear soon. This is a great place to learn, and entertaining as well! Later, Roger.

Ok, I haven't posted in quite a while. But you guys make this forum so dang interesting with all of your wisdom and banter and great pics (and a few interesting avatars) and the great mix of education and keyboard skills (no offense JP) that I probably surf this site at least 3 days of the week during lunch while I am jockeying my desk around. Haven't done much rec tree climbing in the last year, but I can still relate to most of the threads.

I'll have to admit I love seeing someone's first post starting something like "I'm starting a tree business and I wonder what brand of spikes you guys like for tree trimming work?" Stand back and watch the chips fly!

ahhh so nice to see a few others posting keep it up ,weve all got something to say even if its recited, boring, not following the thread to the exact etc etc :D  :D

AHHH your off the hook rola, see how nice we all can be...one big happy family.. come and join in learkers...it'lltake the pressure off the regulars ... Give them some new blood to work with...there only happy when their helping someone ..If there not it gets a little "nancy" around here!!!

Glad for your imput CJ-7.. keep it up...Derek...

Masterblaster where do you come up with those sites...thats the funniest thing ive seen in ages...Or was that in the worm hole to?

CJ-7 do you have any old shots from your Grandfathers day??
Better still a pic of your tree house??? just love tree houses....

Tree houses? I like tree houses too. My father in law built one for the grandkids. During hurricane Isabeeotch one corner came lose. I think the lag screws were too small. Later, RB.

It's just in my nature to Lurk........ Guess I'm bit of a perv. Plus the laziness factor contributes alot to the non-posting.

you readers just ask some questions, thats enough to get a good post rolling.
rb-in-va ...were in the same town let me know when you get your gear and want to start rec climbing. if im free well climb som e trees

Man, they barely had cameras back in my grandfathers logging days, probably 1905 or so. I still get a kick out of seeing old northern Michigan logging pics from about then, with horse drawn sleighs with logs piled 20 feet high and those old "big wheels".

And my treehouse, which I built when I was 7, was just a bunch of boards attached to two limbs with about a thousand nails. If I ever run across a pic, I'll post it.

...the irony...

Now, if you run into nails in a tree the first thing out of your mouth is "WHAT ARSEHOLE PUTS A NAIL IN A FEAKING TREE!!!!!"

Great vibe in a tree house... post em if youve got em...

heres one i pinched from masterblaster
