Randy, nice job man,,good to see you having fun and have the TIME for it :)

That oak was laid down last fall so it's pretty tough.

After building this one with a pop-up I must admit it does make a difference.

Hell, I want to go back inside my 046, 036, 026, and , and.......... LOLOL

Good job Randy! You can call this one Lazarus, back from the dead.
Now this 330 is the same size as a 3450, 3500 Poulan? What, if any, are the differences, besides color?

I'll be damned if I know. These poulans are still new to me. I'm hoping to get my hands on more of em!

Awesome job on the 330/380!

It wasn't too long ago people were nay-naying this saw, now they're probably mad they didn't buy any of the new old stock ones when they had the chance!! I should have gotten another one, myself!

I converted mine to the 380 spec, but haven't even run enough to break it in yet, and was not so adventurous as you!

I got my p&c from Bailey's (oem stock 380 numbers), it was a good deal and bolted right up!!

I would love to come across a few more of these saws. The 380 could easily replace my 036 pro. This 330 is faster than my 026 pro right now. When I get the 3/8 bar and chain on it I can just imagine. :D

Thanks for the thread, good job!!

You'll be very surprised at the bottom end torque it has.I beat out my buddies ms360 with just a MM and a new carb.

Now I'll be looking for another one to play with. I like the one I have too much to experiment with.:laugh:

How to?

What should I do to open up the muffler on my 3300?I have never tryed it but sounds like it would help it out.You guys have all BTDT.Seems to be one of the usual things to get a little more out of a saw. Thanks for the help!!

inside the muffler there is a spacer/baffle thingamajig. the spark screen is around this as well. I cut a large hole in both the top and bottom of this. I then open the outlet hole up, how much depends on the saw. For instance, on this 330 the outlet is an oval 3/4" x 1/2". On a stock 3300 I would stick to a 1/2" hole. It took me awhile to learn that more ain't always better. :D

On a 330 the thinamajig is called the diffuser. The 3300 could have had 2 different types of muffler depending on the type number of the particular saw. The 330's had 2 different types as well.

Most 3300's seem to have a diffuser and a full baffle plate in it as well so its a little different then the 330's.

The good thing is the muffler opens up so there pretty easy to get to and not hard to figure out what you need to do.

I agree that sometimes less is more and not to go too wild on it.

Thanks Guys

Thankyou guys!! I was wondering how much to go.Now I know not to go to much.I do have a extra muffler. So if I screw up all is not lost LOL I didn't think to do a search for this DUH!! I am still learning my way around on here.lots of want to but little know how.I don't want to bug you guys to much. But also don't want to destroy a saw either LOL .I am very thankful for all the help!

After running this saw today, I would say we have another good saw builder. This saw is quite impressive to run. Thanks Randy.

Thanks for the kind words. I was very happy with the little saw as well. I had a fine time today, great to meet you and many other members.

he he, I have a bunch of saws, the 330 is one of my all time favorites. I can't imagine the average firewood cutter needing anything more. If it isn't the greatest value in chainsaws, I don't know what is....but I am sure willing to hear other opinions and learn from them. What else could you buy brand new for $179 that comes close to the performance? A stihl 170?:dizzy::dizzy:

You are making a very good point. The 330 has good filtration, anti vib, adjustable oil pump, rim drive, plated bore, and it's strong and inexpensive. What else could a feller want in a saw???
