I used one once with a flail in the head. I was not impressed with the results. Also you need a respirator with all the dust they kick up.

Raking is more cost effective.

The dust will come out of the bag, leaves and grass fill it up pretty fast, and twigs seemed to stay on the ground

Ya...does sound like a rake is more effective.

Rake, or if it's a big mess condense the debris with backpack blowers and then rake up.

Fast and easy.

If you reverse the hose it will blow as well.

The head will plug up with sticks and will not work. It's ment to pick up grass thatch, leaves and paper debris. Sticks get caught in the nose of the machine and the machine quickly looses suction as leaves and grass etc get caught up in the sticks.

Rakes and blowers are by far the fastest for cleaning up after tree work.

Paddle brooms work well for light twigs and leaves. They do well with stump grindings too.

Really...like the ones that hook to a stihl weed whacker...
