Rod,
Those are some impressive times in a 25" red oak (I know how hard wood cuts)That PP385 might just keep up with my "Junyized" 2159
What happened to the 3120?

Eric,

Both you and Dan keep on callin me Rod..My name is Rob :D YEs I think they are very impresive times especially in a Red Oak..I was using the 3120 on a decent size stump cut last week and it had a rod bearing failure so I'm in the process of rebuilding it this weekend if I get the time it will be going down to Dan also..I hear your trying to port or should I say "Junkize" a saw hows that going??

Later Rob.

Rod......... Sorry Rob,
Yeap I am in the works of Junkizing yet another saw.
Actually I have done 3 so far that run fairly well, Not near as good as Dan or Ken. I only get about 40% gains, I Just doing it for personal satisfaction and something to occupy my time.

Eric,

It's good to hear that your gettin good results from your Junkizing I have heard from some others who try it on there own they end up almost worse than they started with..Hey it's no big deal with callin' me Rod I just wanted to let you know that was'nt my name :D :D .So what other saws have you donw besides the 2159 ??Any cut's timed with any of them yet ??Hey if you got the slowest 372 that must mean I have the slowest 385 on the east coast right .. ..

Mike,

I don't know but I can give it a try I timed these cuts today after logging all day so I was kinda tired but I'll give it a shot maybe tomorrow..

My2cents,

Yes I did recieve your email, and I sent one back but you may not have gotten it I don't know..Let me know if you want to get together sometime??

LAter Rob..

Dan Henry deserves all the credit all I do is log with it,and my name is Rob not Rod :( ..This saw rocks I have been hooked I will never run another stock saw again..:D

Later ROB..

Just wondering what the diameter of the wood you cut was exactly. I mean, a 25" with a 20" bar isnt exactly the optimal size to be cutting. Im not making fun here, just wanted some clarification.

Yeah your right I went back to check all my notes from when I did this and the tree was 25" DBH but I forgot that I had used my 28" bar for this test and not a 20" sorry about that..I did'nt mean to try and fool anyone I just made a mistake.Sorry for the confusion guys..

The 3120 will be back together tomorrow after I get back from work so I'll be able to time a few cut's with it also..

I would have to say atleast 50% I believe I thought that these were quite impresive cutting times epsecially with a big bar on the saw..I was gonna time some more today but we just got hit with 10" of the heavy wet stuff..

Slow PP385

Rob
Looks like some impressive cutting times.
Did you get your 3120 back together yet? I would like to see some timed cuts with it against your slow PP385,in the same log.
I just finished up a Jonsered 2171,for myself. It is stock appearing except for the extra exhaust port in the muffler.I am sure that it will blow your slow PP385 away.LOL
When you claimed a 50% gain with you PP385 was that including the Walkerized muffler? I know you ran that saw for a while with just the muffler mods alone.

Dan,

I'm glad you like the times as far as the 50% deal I should have said it gained 50% from the mods alone the Walkerized muffler just topped the deal off,the muffler is'nt worth the 50% alone thats for sure ;) I just got done for the day about a hour ago used the PP385 all day and love it,I'm waiting on the parts I need to finish the rebuild on the 3120 hopefully it will be done by the weekend and I can time some more cuts side by side :D Plus it would help if it would stop snowing up here been real busy plowing for the past week or so...I'll be in touch I know I will give the 2171 a run for the money but with all the time you have in that saw I'm sure you will win the slow PP385 just can't keep up..

Later Rob.
