Prefilter material to help keep saw air filters clean

Never needed a prefilter ever. Nothing a compressor in the evening wouldn't solve. And if you need a prefilter over think your filing skills.

Of course the guys from Aussi Land are exempt from my above comments.

If you're cutting on an active fire, or fire salvage, or in volcanic ash. . . A prefilter can be a good idea.

One source for material is prefilters for dirtbike filters.
 
Oilable foam filter material is great for capturing small particulates. I've modified filters with foam filter material. In example, a dolly 117 filter can fit 1/2" foam in the core if the flocking is no longer good.

You can also cut your own patterns and glue the filter material together to form a custom shape.
