I bought a saw by mail order. Once.
Just because I have learned to never assume anyone is infallible, I requested they double-box the saw. They acted like they never heard of such a concept, and that it surely must be impossible, and that upper management surely must sign off on this radical departure from their s.o.p. This is where I should have got out of the deal and hung up the phone.
I meant, of course, that they take the powerhead in its factory box and put it into another box, hopefully with some padding.
The saw arrived at my location with the bucking spikes sticking out of the torn, crushed single ply, un-padded, factory box. It was not double-boxed. The factory box was clearly designed for palletized shipping, not going naked into the world.
The saw arrived with a cracked crankcase. The alloy sprocket cover was shattered.
I immediately called them, told them that they could have saved themselves over $500 in losses had they followed this customers simple request, and told them to send a shipping return call tag asap. This company fought it and tried to screw me until I got and stayed aggressive.
Had they not finally returned my funds, I would be disclosing their name now, but they finally did return it. I wanted my money, not another saw sent.
Lesson learned.
