pro mac 10-10 muffler???

Some of them really did not have much in the way of a muffler.The 250,for example,was just a little short stub,with slots cut in it.All the ten series were loud as the dickens,and vibrate,my my.You want to hear a loud one?Do a search and find that vid clip I put on here a while back.There is a geardrive 650,running at over 9,000 rpm,with just the outside portion of the arrester.Now that's loud.

These old macs werent made to be quiet saws, they're made with little restriction in the mufflers to reduce backpressure and maximize power output.

Hey guys, i picked up a nice, running Pro mac 10-10. Late model one with the black chain brake handle.. Its in pretty nice shape, but is LOUD as HELL! There is no muffler on it, but it does have a small deflector plate to 'kinda' move the exhuast outward. But it just doesnt seem right, this thing is so loud, its just unbelievable.. I'm thinking someone removed the muffler and installed the deflector as maybe a performance enhancement?? I searched ebay to look at other similar saws, and i seen more without the muffler, but there are some that had it..

Whats the scoop???

Anyone have a muffler for this thing for sale???

Hi Duncan,

I may be interested in that muffler.. Mine does have a muffler; but it just doesnt seem to be correct. There is nothing in it, no baffle, no screen, etc. I'll attach a pic of what my current muffler looks like.. If yours looks the same, and is completely empty too, then i guess mine is correct and i dont need one.. If yours looks different but will work, or if it has something in it to supress noise, than i would be very interested.!
