I recently had some parts break on the pull- cord assembly for a Sthil 051AV. I took the saw in to my local Sthil dealer, only to find out that the parts I needed are unavailable because of the saws age. I am at a bit of a stand still as to what I should do now. I thought about checking E-Bay or possibly running in to someone on here that may have the parts I need. I also wanted to know if the other pull-cord assembly's for other Sthil AV saws can be swapped? I got this saw for a steal and have only used it 3 or 4 times and I would hate to not be able to get more use out of it, plus the Sthil dealer told me that a entry level saw at that size/model would start at about $700.00 bones :dizzy: and with tree jobs slowing down because of the coming cold weather, I can't justify spending that much. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Well here's a local guy around here that i use...

He's an old logger that owns a saw shop. He also buys/sells saws of any age, figure if you wanna give him a call he might know where to find the parts you're looking for.

I did a quick search on Ebay...there are 70 items in Ebay Stores under "Stihl 051". You might contact a seller named "cheapstihlparts".

When I buy stihl parts off ebay I use this seller: cbaileybg here is a link to there 'ebay store' http://search.stores.ebay.com/searc...Parts+Plus&colorid=-1&fp=0&st=2&fsoo=1&fsop=1

Last time I bought from cheapstihlparts it took them 2 weeks to even send the part out, and they didn't respond to a few emails. Don't get me wrong I got the part as advertised.

I know Curt posts on this site from time to time too, so it's nice to support another forum member.
