We have an old Craftsman/Poulan 358 series 36cc that we keep in the garage to cut the firewood thats too long. It runs fine but has stopped oiling. I have cleaned everything, reassembled, oiler will not work. My fuel man was just here and told me that these saws oil off the compression, and once compression is too weak, you are done. Is it a boat anchor?

sorry, complete model # is 358.35501 Thanks!

OK, this time I wrote it not remembered it! the correct model # is 358.355051
I forgot a 5 in there last time. Scott, see if that helps, and assuming its oiled by crank pulse, is it useless or can it be repaired?

Wood Hick , I tried to look up your 358.35501 craftsman saw on sears parts but couldn't . The horizontal cylinder 30 cc , and 33cc poulan/craftsman use the crankcase pressure pulses to pressurize the oil tank . The 36cc poulan/craftsman that I know of is the same as the poulan 2250 but it is a vertical cylinder that has an oil pump that is gear driven .
