I am not pleased with the horrible case of poison ivy I'm wearing and was flipping through my sherrill tree catalog and came across the ivy block. Has anyone used it or does anyone know anything about it. Thanks in advance.

tecnu

Hi there I use the tecnu wash ( not the extreme wash just the regular) and their spray... and they both work great you just wash up with the wash after being exposed to the stuff ( even after you start itching/blistering if you wash up with it it does help) then use their spray stuff not sure exactly on the name of the spray but it will be obvious its from the same company. My g/f used their gel that is kinda like calamine but doesn't leak everywhere and it worked good for her ( she gets it really really bad). she used the wash and then the gel and it stayed small and went away quick. Hope this helps. Keith

Oh yea almost forgot, and I kid you not, if you wash your cloths in the stuff ( I just put it right in the washing machine and don't use even as much as they recommend) it seems to keep the stuff from spreading every where on both me and my g/f.

Edit: Sorry wasn't trying to be condescending with the "it will be obvious" about the spay I just meant its the only spray that company makes, that I know of, so it wouldn't be hard to know which on I was talking about

I greatly appreciate the info and also found some stuff called Zanfel and my local pharmacy its also a wash the only downfall is its 42 dollars for a 1 0unce tube but so far it works great

+2 for Zanfel. Great stuff, use less and it lasts longer.

tecnu block seems to work pretty well. Also keep some of those benzyl peroxide (acne) face wipes around... use them to wipe exposed skin if you know you have been in it... then shower with the benzyl face wash when get home... it removes the oil... much cheaper then the stuff made for poison ivy too

Zanfel is pretty expensive and it doesn't work quite as well. You can pick up Tecnu or Ivy Block for way cheaper and they work better. At least, in my experience, that's the case. Some blocks work better for certain people. I know some people who are completely immune to poison ivy with Ivy Block on, but I also know some who get it with or without the block on. I would at least try out Tecnu or Ivy Block next time.

Talked with some friends in the logging buisiness and they said to use a 50\50 mix of sulfur and vaseline but I'm going to order technu wash and ivy block to see how things go next time thanks to all for the input
