Every once in a while i try to go thru and rate my favorite threads, lloking mostly for the 5 star ones.
Every once in a while a 4 star. Pretty dismal is 1.

i've tried to have the habit of rating them when i read 'em, but at the start of the thread you can't tell where it is going etc.

We haven't seen a lot of star rated threads i think until i said something in support and announcenmeants, in fact until Nickrosis finally tripped enough votes by adding his, we weren't sure they would show up!

Just mentioning this, because it is something that i think could help indexing thru to find best posts later for eveyone, if more rated some posts. The ratings don't show up when you do a search, but hopefully they will sometime. So if you searched for 'climbing knots', or all of someone's posts, the best ones would be indexed by stars , making choices easier of 100's of search returns.

Hardly ever rate them, I do read them. Started from from the back and went forward, what a difference in the past year. I would like to download the entire thing to disc and edit it off line, and keep what I like on disc. A less than 1 rating could be the Gump Dump.

It is a lot of reading, wish there were more.

Ratings are useful and take hardly any time to do.

I just set the "show threads" feild to "decending/60" and then click on the "replies" column header to sort them that way.

Yeah i was kinda figured that would happen DDM! Nice trick JP thanx! Of course it shows how particular we are, out of 1000 threads only 8 get 5 stars! Tough audience or poor comedians!

Presently, i imagine Darin is focused on ushering other things; i imagine the pendulumn will swing back this way as things level out for him. All we can do is wish (t)him the best!

Just realized that it has been a while since i took a few to review latest threads, refreshing info from them and star rate them, so that the really good ones will stick out, and be indexed for myself as well as everyone here and yet to come.

By clicking your list on the "ratings" title, the threads will be listed according to ratings, is one benefit of this. i wish this function was extended to the Search funtion, as presently there is no rating column on the search result pages that i am aware of.

Rating the threads in the little box at the bottom after reading a thread is hard to remember sometimes, cuz you should let the thread develop and show depth etc. before highlighting them for easier referance later. i generally rate them a half dozen at a time, picking out my favorites.

If you pass a mouse pointer over the amount of stars a thread has in the rating column, it shows the amount of votes and exact average of the votes. "Party Started" the most read, replied etc. thread in the forum got 5 votes!

Sorting the columns (Replys, Views, Ratings) by clicking those names int the header of the columnin the threadlist of the Climber's (or any) forum; gives interesting threads and views of the best/most active threads, for ourselves and the years of those to come after. Quick way for some as they join to get a lil'closer up to speed and background too i think!
