So back to the check valve issue on the sl10a 😆 So it's been soaking in a bottle LA totally awesome cleaner for almost a week now, it seems to be working a lot better, no leaks using the rubber tip blow gun. 🤞 It was just gummed up debris on the seats where the ball bearing is supposed to be sealing. Thinking maybe tomorrow or this weekend I will test it out.

So the check valves for homelite are way smaller than anything Remington used. Also the saw is still getting bar oil into the cylinder. I have no clue as to how or where because it's a 1 line set up. All my other bigger Remington saws have 2 lines into the side cover. Does anyone know where the oil tank is being pressurized at on a sl10a? The check valve is the same for sl9 and sl10a doesn't matter if it's manual only or manual and automatic oiler. I was looking at the ipl and can't figure anything out. The valve does leak slightly or the ball bearing and spring in the valve when it's supposed to be closed. I'm pretty sure if I run the saw wot it won't smoke or leak but getting started doesn't work because it's dumping a fair amount of bar oil into the cylinder

Can anyone tell me if the air vent on the oil tank is serviceable/replaceable? It’s a Wards 5.0 (pl-55). It doesn’t seal & leaks a lot of oil. I tried cleaning it with no improvement. The ball is free & the spring feels soft but I’m not sure if that’s normal.
I have gone through the entire oiling system & everything else is good.

I have the same saw. Pm me I'm at work but I can look at mine and see. But I lost one of those bearings and I ended up junking the saw lol. I got about 20 Remington saws or more that are runners. @runningremingtons on YouTube

It's been a while since I've posted here.I have an SL10K that's been a thorn in my side for the last couple weeks.First I had a bad carb that wouldn't pull fuel even with a new kit in it.How are ya supposed to pressure check a carb that has no inlet elbow?I bought another carb off feebay, rebuilt that one, installed it today & it fired right up,but....I've never seen this before - I had fuel squirting out of where the fuel line butts up to the carb. The only thing I can think of is the gasket is bad, maybe has a crack in it.Has anyone else ever had this problem before? The saw runs like it has bad crank seals which tells me it's sucking air from somewhere.I'd put a carb on from an SL9 & didn't have an air leak.

Isn't that the large husqvarna mount? It'll need some work that's for sure. Remington studs are much further apart and I'm sure neither the oiler or adjuster holes line up well. You'll have to compare to an original.
Yea I did. It looks like a lot of work. If I modified it I doubt I would be able to flip the bar. Thanks for the reply, I was praying one of you guys knew some super secret trick

Howdy all,

this week I acquired this Remington PowerLite PL-6 engine that seems to be for some brush cutter or clearing saw or maybe even "multi purpose engine" setup, or something similar. I've searched around the internet but haven´t been able to find any info on that sort of thing for a PowerLite.

Is there any info on what this might have been for?

To be up front: I asked the same on Magnus' forum.

As you are finding out, Remington documentation is near non-existent. I would be surprised if anybody was able to come forward with information on this. That said, I've never heard of a Remington brushcutter.

That is not a PL6. The muffler determines that it is either a PL4 or PL5. Very interesting powerhead, hopefully someone else can chine in as to what it's purpose is.

I have quite a bit of literature but never seen that usually homelite made some stuff and Mac for odd ball applications. I have seen some Remington cut off saws though. And I do have literature on Remington snowblowers but it's probably something rebranded. It was called polar king

Thanks for all the replies with your thoughts!

As @cbfarmall remarked, info on anything Remington brush cutter-ish seems to be non existent. But if not that, than what?

I've cooked up another collage of details and can't really imagine that the clutch/cover would be some home made contraption - looks way to slick for that.

A few things that occur to me now:
  • There seems to be no idle screw, with the casing not even being open at that spot.
  • Of course it is not needed, and the back handle is non-existent, but I don't see any opening for an oiler pump connection near where it would be located on the back handle either.
  • There is no ID plate in the usual place (not even holes for a missing one) but there is some numbers on the housing under the clutch (see image)

Ohhwww, big whoops. It was sold to me as a PL-6 and I never had a closer look, but you are absolutely right, of course. For me the strange angled support under the front handle that the PL-6 and -7 have should have been telling. Also, come to think of it, the engine is quite small to be a 94 ccm. :innocent:

It not being a PL-6 (big engine) doesn't bother me much - I basically wanted to have it because I couldn't easily find info on anything like this "version".

I'll measure the bore (next week) to see if it is a PL-4 or PL-5 derivative - or are there any other/easier tells?

Yes, I've found a (1) picture of a Reminton PL-ish cut off saw too.

Is your Remington literature digitized (as in: could it be easily shared)??

Thanks again for all your thoughts!
