Hello, Folks....

I'm parting out a Husqvarna 261 which has some very nice parts. However, the top cover (which is otherwise in great condition) has some paint overspray on it. Anyone have experience getting this stuff off? I'm all ears! Thanks in advance!

Overspray from what?

Auto paint? If it is just set to it with the correct thinners and a rag. If you've any safety stickers that you want to keep be more gentle on them and stay off the white 'H' as this will come off too.

I've got a nice before and after in the same category for you...

Laquer thinner on a rag works ok, if you get to much on the rag it tends to "streek" the plastic. Carb cleaner, Brakeclean etc. will work to, just use it in moderation. If it's not alot of overspray you can try and use steal wool. I paint cars on the side so i've got alot more tricks than that but those are the best.

Jeeze!

Whoa! That's what I'm talking about! Makes you wonder why it was rattle-canned in the first place! You even saved the stickers.....

The tip about the H comes from the experience learned on that saw. You can't see in the photo, but in the after shot 'Husqvarna' isn't as perfect as it once was :)

If it is just overspray I use Lestoil full strength and rub it off. In the case like his saw thinner looked like the only choice. The lestoil seems to not attack the plastic much if at all

I think it was probably a case of Little Jimmy found Dad's paint and decided to do a job.

Hell, what do I care, I got the saw cheap and it scrubbed up well after an hour of rubbing amidst a pleasant hazy buzz.....

Oh yea, only do this in a well ventilated place:crazy1:

I already get light-headed when I go into my shop.. now I get to add paint thinner to the mix. Good think I don't smoke or I'd be replaced by a mushroom cloud. I like the idea of the before and after pics.. I think I'm gonna do it!

Yep, I like to take before and after shots. It's the best way to remember them.

So I know these aren't chainsaws, and yes, I'm just showing off, but what the hell.....
