You might try harbor freight. I heard mostly good things about their predator line of engines.

I replaced a tiller engine with a HF. Not everything may line up but I made it work. Cranks on first or second pull better than the old B&S.

I bought a splitter with a replacement briggs. Looks like they had to drill new mounting holes and grind the frame a bit for the oil drain plug. The pump looks to not be the an original orientation either judging by the hoses.

If that engine is in good shape Id repair it and bolt it back up. Welders were invented for a reason.

By now you may have already solved your engine problem, but if your Briggs is good other than the sump, Jim Freshman may have a good used sump. He has a website:

As long as they have the same size output shaft ,any name brand should work. Hope this helps. Be Safe.

Do they all rotate the same direction?
