Rev-Limiters?!?!

Ben Walker and I were trading posts regarding the Stihl 441 and the Husky 575 regarding different issues one being the rev-limiter on the 575.

Rich, with all due respect how much time do you have on a 575 or the 441 for that matter? I have put a limited amount of time on both and to be honest the only reason the 441 has a leg up is because it doesnt have a rev limiter. From a performance standpoint they feel pretty close.

I am of the opinion that these 2 saws will never be near their no-load revs while cutting. So other than making it a bit harder to adjust the Hi-end I don't believe the rev-limiter is a hindrance on the 575's performance!!!

Makes sense to me. May turn 13,000rpms in the hand but not in the cut. My question among the 441 and the 575 is how has the 575 turned out. I recalled alot of bad press on the site about the 575 but now I hardly see any bad comments about it. I assume it turned out to be a decent saw, correct?

Good question.............I haven't seen a whole lot good or bad (recent that is) on here about the 575!

I recall the 575 being called everything from a boat anchor to it won't run when cold, blowing bearings and on and on. That was a while back. Spike claimed he had no such issues with it and that his customers liked it as well as the old 372. Since then I haven't heard anymore about the 575 so I assume its not what it was claimed to be awhile back. Other words its turned out to be a good saw, cool I say. The 441 was shot at alot too when it first come out but since then has proven the critics wrong, hold on, patting myself on the back,LOL

Yeah that thread was alot of fun, no question about it. Whole lot of scrapping and in the end everyone was freinds, my kinda thread indeed.
