I have a 2 XLS and one XL2. Neat little saws. I'm glad the metering was mentioned in the thread because my XL2 is running very rich. I'll have to give it a try.

Before I really knew much about chainsaws, before I joined AS that is, I ran the XL2 for little cuts here and there. I didn't have a clue on how it was running. I tried to make some cuts yesterday with it and it didn't have any power. I quickly grabed my Pouland 2550 to get the job done.

Yeah, I found mine to be 4-stroking even under load.... Right to clutch stall... Adjust the metering lever in small increments... Like I said above, mine is only 5-10 thou low for a nice mixture... made a world of difference.

+1 on Jason's response. I had to pull my carb an adjust the metering arm a number of times to get it right. It was initially far too rich, but now runs like a champ.
