Seems to me like a thicker bar would move the cover further out from the clutch, which should help the rubbing. Like already having a 1/64" spacer.

Jack

That's what I was getting at,the thicker bar would give a little more clearance.

Looks like any spacer would have to be placed behind the outside bar plate. There seems to be plenty of room to do it if necessary, the tensioning stud looks plenty long enough to allow it to fully engage the bar.Just looking it over I noticed that there is a provision for a "regular" tensioning screw built into the casting under the bar studs.Interesting.

Just measured one of Bailey's 14" Carlton/Tsumura bars,it is 9/64" thick also.

how do you find the power of the Ryobi with the muff mod?

Does it have alot more power than your muff modded 360t/

Do you think the rev limiter is holding back the potential of the Ryobi/
Thanks

I will have to try putting in a spacer like you say. I have been having too much fun running the snellerized 361 to do anything more with the ryobi as of yet

The Ryobi is quite a bit stronger than the CS-360T.

Currenty it is not running well, crapped out around the 10th tank of fuel. The rev limiting coil started cutting the rpm's out about half what it usually does, when the saw got fully warmed up.

It runs great when first fired up, then after about 3-4 minutes it starts missing and woln't rev past about 6000rpm's.

I ordered a new coil and it hasn't shown up yet.

I like the saw, and the price, but disappointed it crapped out so quickly. Hopefully it will run quite a bit longer without issues when the new coil is installed.....Cliff

For those of you that are having trouble running down the NGK sparkplugs and the carb adjusting tool for these Ryobi saws, here's some good news.Site sponsor,Edge and Engine is now stocking these items. One stop shopping at its best.(The prices are great too!)
They have the standard heat plug_CMR7H and also a little hotter plug_CMR5H if you want to try them out. Here's a link:

In addition, they have the "Double-D" carb tool for adjusting the carb without having to modify anything.(Priced right too!!)Here's a link for the tool:

Can one of you guys post a picture of your muffler mod on this saw? I am going to open the existing exhaust hole up more, but I am wondering if I should also drill through the baffle wall right behind the exhaust port?

Brad warned me in a PM about blowing the back out, so I used the stop on the drill press. I would mark my bit or step drill, on a hand drill. I just put a 1/2" hole through the opening and baffle, then took the edge off with a dremel, painted and baked. Just a tweak richer adjustment once I opened it up. I did not run it in wood before the mod, so I do not know what I gained if any.

Hey Himwill, get me these tool buys before I spend 13$ on the DD carb adjuster! Seriously the $3 is a good price. I would be wary of running a 5 range plug. Too hot for me:angry2:

Well,I think the carb tools have been available for a short while, the sparkplugs are a new item(I think they rolled in yesterday).

I had ordered a few parts to try this place out a little while before Cliff posted this link. They say about 1 to 2 weeks for delivery.Having been burnt before on some online stores that don't come through with your orders,I was hesitant to recommend them without giving them a try.
Today I got an "order shipped" email, with no back-orders, so I guess they're O.K. Cliff, my order was placed 6-12,so you should hear something from them soon.

The new coil showed up yesterday, and in about 10 minutes the little Ryobi was back up and running.

I ran a full tank thru it, no more problems, so the coil must have been the culprit. We'll see how long this one lasts.

The replacment coil had the same part number as the one it replaced, and has the rev-limiting feature as well.....Cliff

Good news,my order showed up yesterday afternoon also. Now I can start my airbox experiment.Any suggestions from anyone?
I posted in another thread last night, directed to Motodeficient, that the easiest way to gain some clearance for the clutch cover that I can see would be to "double up" on the outside bar plate. They cost $0.89 so it would be cheap to try.

Thats a good idea. I just went ahead and ordered the outside bar plate (2 just in case) along with a bunch of other items that I can see myself needing maintenance wise. I am really pleased with the pricing on replacement parts for this saw. I think if this was for a stihl I would have paid almost this much for just the air filter! The spark plug is pricey but it is a specialty plug. The shipping prices are really low as well.

1 x Inner Guide Plate (638309001) = $0.94
2 x Outer Guide Plate (638298001) = $1.78
1 x Spark Plug (870217001) = $8.25
1 x Air Cleaner, Upper (518423001) = $2.73
1 x Muffler Gasket (901380001) = $0.83
1 x Scabbard (580699001) = $4.36
1 x Air Cleaner, Lower (518421001) = $2.90
1 x Fuel Cap (308611001) = $4.40
1 x Oil Cap (308612001) = $1.20
------------------------------------------------------
Sub-Total: $27.39
USPS PRIORITY MAIL (Priority Mail): $5.30
Total: $32.69

That ereplacements parts list is interesting. Some of the parts -- air filter or clutch bearing, for instance -- are priced proportionally to the low cost of the saw. But $38 for an oil pump? Woof. The insulator assembly (strato-charge stuff, it appears) is $161. If someone straight gasses your 10532 there's no P&C listed, just an engine assembly for $275. I suppose if that looks like a good deal you might pick up a carrying case for $64.36. Ok, ok, for what it is it's really good enough that you can get an air filter for less than $3 and a clutch for less than $10. Perhaps Redmax would have the P&C if you really wanted them, but I think it's a good reminder not to get too attached to one of these saws.

Jack

There is no way I would replace a piston and cylinder in a saw that cost me $109 anyway

For what it's worth, the searspartsdirect site has the engine internal parts(rings, piston, bearings, seals etc.). Use model #358.362180 to look it up.

I logged on to ryobi and parts catalog it is listed under homelite consumer porducts, Are these companies the same

varmit

During my last husky certification Husqvarna did say they bought out homelite everywhere but the united states but that was 2 years ago

They bought out Redmax too,to get their hands on the strato-charge technology. As far as I can tell,Ryobi did the deal with Redmax to produce these saws. Now that Husky is in control, don't look for any more when these are gone.
I think that a very similar saw, based on this model(Redmax/Ryobi) will be introduced as a new Husky model sometime soon.If so,what kind of price would you think it would be?
